Like the Triumph 2000 it was developed from. the Stag was styled
by Italian maestro Giovanni Michelotti and featured the monocoque
construction. independent suspension. disc/drum brakes. br/>power-assisted rack and pinion steering and driveline of that
saloon. The powerplant. though. was an all-new OHC. V8 of 3000cc
capacity fed by a pair of Stromberg carburettors. The newcomer
received a warm reception at the time of launch in 1970. However. br/>once in the hands of customers there were quibbles over build
quality and engine maladies. Although Triumph itself failed to
fully resolve the issues. independent specialists have. and well
sorted Stags are now the rival to the Mercedes-Benz SL they were
always intended to be.

This well presented 1976 Stag in white with black trim drives
beautifully with the smooth automatic gearbox and V8 engine making
it a pleasure to enjoy with the hood down. Having had a fairly
recent restoration including bare metal re-spray. new panels and a
brand new dashboard including wood. this motorcar is offered with
an MoT test certificate valid until September 2014. V5 and a
history file containing bills back to 1990; genuinely a drive away
classic that should want for very little over the coming years.
Desirable to look at and with a soundtrack to die for. this strong
and refined grand tourer is simple and economic to maintain and
will be a joy to own.
