OPEL GT-1968

Believed to be one of only three surviving 1968 models left on the road. There are some subtle cosmetic differences between the 1968 model and the 1969 onwards models and these are: no recess behind the rear number plate. carpet on the transmission tunnel. split front bumper and different internal dials.


This particular model has benefitted from a full restoration four years ago - photographic evidence is available. All rust was removed and new metal was let in including new sills and then a full windows out bare metal respray was applied. New badges. trim and window rubbers were fitted . Invoices for this work for labour alone total approx 8000 pounds. On top the list of parts. nd engine work . tc etc etc .

Whilst the engine was out. an unleaded and big valve head was fitted. as was electronic ignition and Webber twin choke carb (more reliable than the original Solex one) and the engine now runs beautifully. Other mechanical parts where included in the restoration to bring the car up to date such as new front disc's. steering rack. etc. and the car has always been serviced.
The interior was also treated to new carpets and re-trimmed seats and the car proudly sits on custom made wire wheels. that were made in and imported from America which really enhances the great lines of the car. These alone were $2200.
This must be one of the best Opel GT's in the country and has won trophies at various car shows.

Engine & Transmission
The engine is in superb order with alot of work recently done . Including electronic ignition . ebber carb and a large valve head with the hardened seats to enable the use of unleaded fuel.
Wheels. Tyres & Brakes
Chrome wire wheels that were specially made in America. n superb order. The tyres are all matching pirellii which are as new.
Exterior
The Red paintwork is superb . Very straight bodywork with no rust or imperfections. The brightwork is all to show standard.
