1963 Studebaker Avanti R1 A/C PS PB Power Windows 289ci Auto Investment Quality

1963 Studebaker Avanti R1. Loaded with rare and desired options! Numbers matching 289ci V8 with correct carter 4bbl carburator. Borg Warner 3 speed automatic transmission. Power steering. This Studebaker Avanti is one of the highly desired early Studebaker built cars with round headlights. Built in March of 1963. It was a southern car until 2005 when a collector purchased the car and brought it to St. Louis. Missouri. He purchased the all original car because of its superb condition and placed it in his climate controlled man cave. In 2008 he had the car professionally repainted and all exterior chrome redone. It was then placed back in dry heated and cooled storage in his homes basement. When his collection became to large for him to care for anymore he sold the car to me and my father in 2013. We pulled the car from the basement and brought it back to life and made it a safe road worthy car once more.

 We replaced the master clyinder with a rebuilt unit from Avanti Parts. We replaced the brake fluid and serviced the brakes themselves. New brake light switch was also installed. The fuel system was cleaned front to back. All rubber lines replaced for safety and a new fuel filter installed. The carburator was rebuilt with the correct carter kit . A new mallory distributor was installed for reliability and new head and intake gaskets where installed along with new valve cover gaskets at that time. It comes with the original distributor. The battery was replaced with correct size and style unit. The engine bay was detailed and all the original ignition shielding is still in place. We went over the car and fixed anything we could find in need of repair. The lights. blinkers. windows. horn. gauges. radio. wipers. heater controls and a/c controls all work! The air conditioning worked when we last tried it in December and should work great this spring.

Car comes with the original owners manual. factory shop manual for servicing the car. and parts manual. Original distributor and misc spare parts we collected for future use should they be needed are included. Original Goodyear Spare tire in the trunk and factory jack. The interior is all original and in great shape. no dash cracks. A few small wear marks to note are on the drivers door arm rest. and on the top of the passenger seat . both of which the seams have come loose. Overall the interior is in fantastic condition. and amazing for its age. No funny smells. The trunk is carpeted and in great shape also. The body is straighter than any Corvette of the time. and after inspection we could find no evidence of accidents or repairs. The frame is straight and clean with no signs of the rust problems northern cars experienced! The engine runs great and has plenty of power. No smoking or trouble starting. The transmission shifts smooth and easy. This really is a great car and we love it. but like all car guys . a car we have always wanted has come into our lives and we need the space.
