Up for auction is a 1940 Ford Coupe and it is all steel including the running boards and fenders. Most Street Rod enthusiasts would say that the 40 Ford is the Holy Grail of hot rods and this is a real good one.

 

I purchased this car locally from a friend of mine who lives only 4 miles from my house. He bought this all steel original 40 Coupe in 2003 and began a full frame off restoration which he completed in 2009. The car was from Arizona. He had only put a little over 1500 miles on the car since completion and he had won over 25 trophies with the car already.

 

The body was taken off the frame and sand blasted to the bare metal. The car was then primed and prepped with Sandy Fill Primer and then painted with 7 coats of base and clear. The colors are PPG Wineberry over Violet and Panther Pink. The car is absolutely drop dead gorgeous. As you can see in the pictures the car is slick. The glass was all replaced as well as the seals. The chrome and bright work is excellent. The wheels are American Racing with Radial GT’s… Fronts are P195/65R15’s and the rears are P295/50R15’s. The car has a really nice stance. The custom pin stripping is from Shott-z.

 

The interior was custom restored by Tim’s Auto Upholstery in Duluth GA. and you can check out his website as he does awesome work. It is a two-tone grey color and it’s very comfortable and functional. It has power windows. Lecarra steering wheel (tilt column). VDO Gauges & clock. and a great sounding Pioneer sound system with a 1000 watt amplifier. The roll bar is tied to the frame. It also has dual sun visors. Hot Rod E-brake. and a tall Lokar style shifter. All of the interior and dash/gauge lights are functional and the wiring is all new with an EZ wiring harness. The floor. firewall and doors are insulated with a heat/sound barrier.

 

The engine was professionally built at a speed shop in Tucson. AZ (which is where my neighbor lived when the project was started). It is a GM 350 with a mild cam and performance parts. The motor starts right up first time every time and runs perfect. Some of the high performance parts include a high volume aluminum water pump. Walker radiator with a custom built stainless steel fan shroud. Edelbrock polished aluminum intake. Edelbrock 600 cfm carburetor with an electric choke. Holley performance fuel pump. MSD coil and ignition. Taylor Pro plug wires. and Hooker Competition polished headers. The engine is finished off with Billet aluminum valve covers and matching breather. The firewall and fender wells are slick and it is high show quality under the hood as well. This motor has only used Mobile 1 Advanced Full Synthetic oil… 10 W30.

 

The transmission is a smooth shifting rebuilt 350 turbo. The rear end is a Ford 8” narrowed with a 2. 75 gear. It has a Mustang II rack and pinion front end with tubular upper and lower control arms and coil over shocks. It also has wildwood disc brakes on the front. The exhaust sounds great. It is a thru frame all stainless with magnaflow mufflers and pipes. The frame. rear end. and supports are all painted grey and look nice and clean.

 

This 40 Ford build was well planned out and a nice clean true labor of love. It took George 6 years to complete the car and he put his heart and soul into this car and it really does show.
