Hi folks. here is my 1971 slammed fastback "The Baron Silas Greenback" up for sale. when I got him 18 months ago I thought he would be with me for a long old time but I have since fallen in love with Karmann Ghia's so he has to go to be loved by somebody new. The history of him as far as I know is that he was purchased brand new in Edinburgh 1971 and kept by the original owner for many years. he then passed the car onto his daughter adding a second former keeper to the log book. She held onto him for a few years until she wanted something a bit more modern. he then went to the father and was put into a garage in 1987. This is where he stayed until 2011 when the old chap passed away. The daughter then put him up for sale. and he was purchased by Terry Settle from Lincoln. see January's Volksworld magazine 1959 beetle The Baron even gets a mention. Terry then set about getting him back on the road. literally on the road! Terry also put on a 4" narrowed beam when he slammed him to the road and he had to replace the front wings as they were wafer thin so he now has fibreglass front wings so no worries about rust. This is where I come into the little cars life. I purchased him from Terry in August 2012 and spent the rest of the year enjoying being bumped along the road with no suspension at all. he stayed like that until March this year when he went in for his MOT. The MOT tester was not happy with the narrowed beam for some reason so myself and Matt Balls decided the way to go was to get the original beam back on him. I managed to get the beam from Terry and Matt set about doing the magic tricks he does with old dubs that scrape the floor. What I ended up with was about a 5mm raise on the whole car and a really smooth ride with suspension and everything. Matt also did a little bit of welding while he was at it to make him all solid and good underneath and he sailed through the MOT.  Since then we have been to numerous shows around the country. from Dover to Norfolk and never missed a beat and always overtaking beetles and buses along the way. he will sit at 70mph all day long and has been known to get up over 80mph at times too (sorry officer!).  He has been garaged nearly every night since I've owned him. only sleeping under the stars when he has been to shows. I can't think of anything to tell you about him but if you have any questions do not hesitate to contact me and I'll answer any questions as quickly as possible. Also if you require any other photos let me know what you want to see and I'll do my best to get them for you. Advertised elsewhere so I reserve the right to remove at any time.
