Vauxhall PC Cresta Deluxe. Manufactured April 1971. Registered March 1973.

Relisting at a lower price. the sale failed to complete twice so I am hoping for better luck this time.
Here is my lovely old Metallic Bronze PC Cresta. Selling as have to reduce my collection slightly. ( so I can spend less time in my workshop and more time with my wife. )
I bought this car down from Scotland last year where she had been garaged since about 1996.
Through the winter I gently recommisioned the vehicle. This included all new brake pipes and hoses. front and rear brake overhauls.
Full engine service. new fuel pipe and fuel tank clean. I also cleaned the carb and fuel pump adding an inline fuel filter. This could easily be removed to restore the original under bonnet look.
I greased the front suspension and re packed the front wheel bearings too.
At the rear I fitted some nos shock absorber bushes.
The car then passed straight through the MOT. no adviseries.

I have not touched the underneath. the car has never seen a welder but the original underseal is now flaking off. I don't take it out in the wet but if you wanted to you would need to protect the underside. I left it as is because I like originality over unnecesary restoration.
The car is fitted with a very nice period towbar and most interestingly a pair of great rear spring assisters.
The towbar electrics work fine as they were tested during the MOT.

The interior is very tidy with no holes or damage to the seats. it retains its original carpet which is in excellent shape considering it's over forty years old. just some minor fading here and there.
The wooden dash is a little cracked in places but still looks smart. Door cards are in great shape and all i've done is vacuumed it out.
It has a great authentic patina. including a car park ticket from 1977 lodged by the windscreen.

Externally it looks like the car has been resprayed in the original colour a long time ago. There are a few blemishes. scratches and a couple of rust bubbles here and there. To me it has a lovely aged look but I know some people would like a flawless finish.
I personally like the look of the vehicle and would not touch the paint but thats only my opinion.

I have had a number of very enjoyable journeys in this car so far this year and its never let me down. I am still using her now when the weather is nice.
The six cylinder engine and fourspeed box are a delight and once above 15mph it will go most places in top gear.
If I don't sell it one modification I will do is fit an overdrive as it is a little low geared and the engine races a bit over 60 mph.
Still I am running her on original spec 5. 90X14 crossplies for that sixties feel. Not to everyones taste but I like it.
The two rear tyres a getting a little low so in the boot are two nos G8 Customs ready to fit. The front tyres are as new.

So in conclusion this is a very nice Cresta. not concours but highly original.
Slightly strange that when I got the build date from the Vauxhall Heritage Centre it seems to have spent a long time unregistered but anyway its registered as an Historic vehicle on the V5C which is in my name.

I have a bit of history and the names of the three previous owners. Two from Rugby and then up to Scotland in the 1990's. I feel the indicated mileage of 47. 38 is genuine but I cannot warrant this however the overall condition and mechanical feel of the vehicle would indicate this is a low mileage car. I have an MOT from 1992 which shows 47. 98 miles

I work from home so viewing and a trip out in her are at your convienience within reason. Also I can pop her on my lift if you want a really good look underneath.

There is a mobile number on my listing but I will give you more contact details if you message me through e-bay first.

Finally thank you for reading through my advert.
