Magnificent VW Restoration

There are less than 250 miles on the completely professionally restored 2000cc fuel injected engine with electronic ignition and appropriate new decals.

This is a no expense spared restoration with many new parts and the original L90 D paint code [Pastel White] on a rust free Arizona bus that was stripped down to its shell before undergoing a complete professional rebuild.

It retains all its original body panels without welds as well as its original battery tray.

Every mechanical system was updated for reliability.

The front axle has new ball joints. tie rods. and steering dampener. and the steering box shaft has a new rubber coupler as well.

The shift rod was removed and new bushings installed.

The windshield wiper motor was removed and all seals were replaced before new grease was applied to the wiper shafts.   

The brake system has new rubber hoses on all four corners as well as new wheel cylinders on the rear. turned rear hubs. new brake shoes and new ceramic front brake pads as well as new brake fluid.

The shocks are new.

The new correct brand load range D8 ply tires were installed for increased stability and handling.

Also new are the fuel pump. the fuel and vent lines including the rubber elbow on the fuel filler neck. and the fuel gauge sending unit for the cleaned and professionally lined fuel tank.

The transmission has new seals on the main and shifting shafts and is filled with new gear lube.

Clutch and throttle cable are new as are the rear wheel bearing seals.

This was the first year for hydraulic lifters so there is no constant adjusting like earlier models.

The interior is totally redone with all new headliner. panels. including the two front doors. new front seat upholstery. curtains. rear hatch screen. child's cot. carpet throughout. and cabinets and counter tops that have been professionally re-laminated.  Also included is a reproduction Westfalia Stool and Storage Box in the correct original upholstery and a new Kenwood Excelon KDC-X995 radio with XM. iPod. bluetooth and new Alpine speakers for outstanding sound.

The exterior has a new windshield. rear bumper. side mirrors. VW emblem. antenna. rubbers on all the windows except the front doors. and all new door. rear hatch. and engine lid seals.  

There are many more new parts installed throughout the bus such as rear lenses and all four side marker lenses. as anything that was needed to be replaced was.

There is an original owner's manual as well as original jack. lug wrench and hubcap puller. which are all stored under the passenger seat.

The front passenger seat swivels around to face the rear.

Everything is in working order on the bus including the heater. wipers. horn. all lights and gauges. and sink pump.

This 1978 VW Westfalia Campmobile is a solid running. driving. and shifting bus that is as tight as new as it goes down the road with plenty of power cruising effortlessly at 75 mph.
