This auction is for a very nice 1968 Type 1 VW Beetle with Baja kit. that has been restored.
Here's a little bit of history: I was told from the couple I bought it from they bought the car in Arizona near California and their intent was to completely restore it.   He started the tear down. rebuilt the transmission. had it stripped. then some body work and painting wasdone. After painting the car. it was stored in their garage for 3+ years. covered up. He was never able to find the time to put the bug back together and he put it up for sale.
I found it online and bought it as a basket case. I went through the parts that came with it. nbsp;kept and restored what could be restored and ordered the rest. The car it self was in good shape for it's age. floor pan was in great shape. The body was not removed from the pan. From what I could see. there was some very light rust but no damage or rot. The VW came to me with a rebuilt trans axle and all new bushings. NOTE: After driving this carfor approx 150 miles. I have determined that it pops out of second gear upon deceleration. My research into thisshows it could be a bad clutch gear between 2nd and 3rd gear. I have priced the car accordingly to this defect.
After that. I stripped and replaced the interior. carpet. headliner. I installed one piece window kits. new door panels and hardware.  A 1600 dual port came with it. but needed to be rebuilt. So. I tore it all down and made a few high performance up grades such as. I replaced all seals. new 88 mm pistons and jugs. . 010 -. 010 69 mm crankshaft. changed the cam to a . 476 lift . 274 duration 108  degree from Empi. Oil pump with spin on filter for extra protection.   Also installed dual 34 mm Carbs by Empi.  Installed the fenders. hood and back piece.  Stripped everything and painted some parts like the engine cage.front guard and suspension parts.   Went through the break system.  Added Nerf bars. lights and raised the rear suspension by torsion bar adjustment. bought 4 new tires and reassembled the whole car.
Pictures were taken by me through the build and a file of them will be given to the winner/buyer of the bug.  Also. being offered with the car are a set of 8 spoke off road rims that need to be stripped and repainted.a car cover and a straight stinger exhaust tip. a new tow bar for easy towing and a VW only parking sign!SEE PICTURES!!! IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS. PLEASE ASK!!!
A quick note about me: I am a retired ASE Certified Mechanic of over 30 years and this is not my first restoration.  Now. I just do it as hobby as I just cant help myself! I still enjoy working on cars.  So be assured the car was not built by a shade tree in a dirt lot.  That being said. there is and will be NO warranty given with the sale of this car. It is sold AS IS where it is. Title is Arizona and clean. Buyer is to arrange shipping.
Real fun to drive! You will enjoy adding your own touches to it and making it yours. I'm sure. Thanks for looking!!
