Hear we have a unique 1968 vw fasback slammed in retro cal guise i have owned it for about two years and as you see it is how it is. the only thing i have done is washed it before the photos.

this car was fetured in ultra vw in late 2010 whilst in the hands of the original owner so if any one has the ability to flick through their collection to find the original write up its worth a look (i have a copy myself somewhere)
right. first off this car is slammed and i don't think you will find a lower one it has swing axle rear end and a narrowed type1 kink and link pin front end on dropped front spindles. the ride is quite smooth up front with the back being a little bit stiffer but being as low as it is its a bit impractical for everyday use.
THE EXTERIOR. The outside is generally in good condition with a bit of rust down the front edge of the passenger door and bubbling along the edge of the bonnet and under the passenger side front light being the worst (there may be other little bits i missed) the chrome work has speckles of rust and would benefit from from a polish with autosol. however the chrome would still be pitted wheels are fuch. replicas with i believe genuine Porsche centers. i don't know what make the wheels are but they are good copies with special tyre valves that screw and unscrew into the wheel. the back wheels are wider and the fronts are narrower the two drivers side tyres are good as for the rear passenger side i couldn't get to it to see but. the front passenger has perished on the side wall so will need replacing. the two rear light rubbers are in need of replacing due to them being cheap made ones they have perished.  the rear pop outs have perished slightly not a massive issue but. i got two original fixed windows and rubbers as a replacements but never fitted.
INTERIOR. The car is fully carpeted. ead lined and has been coach trimmed by Bernard Newbury interiors and is in fair condition for a 13 year old interior so expect the odd mark it may clean up to tiptop condition. The head lining has come unstuck due to the heat around the top of the rear window and a bit in the front. this will need some glue and tucking back under the window seal. I would do it but me and glue do not mix well. The door cards are missing some clips of which i have some new somewhere. The door z shape door handles are a bit knackerd. but I have some original replacements but they are the ones without the chrome strip. the dash has a small-ish crack on the vent and a small one behind the clocks but acceptable given the rarity. I believe the clocks work apart from the speedo with the oil light intermittently coming on pretty sure its not low pressure though as it drove fine. It has a flat four gt steering wheel & boss. gear stick. The boot and. well. boot are clean and tidy with the rear having carpet.
THE ENGINE:The engine is a 1. 6. I don't think it's the original engine but it ran well (I THINK IT WAS A REBUILT ONE). It has twin webber carbs with pancake air filters and a branded hex linkage. It has the original exhaust which is in need of replacement (I have a NEW 4 into 1 manifold and silencer with chrome tip that i bought from america that I will include)
THE GEARBOX:The gear box is a 4 speed manual as expected and worked well with no crunching however the gear leaver is slightly stiff from left to right not really stiff but enough to not spring back to center. I have bought (not fitted) a good second hand Scat one with revers leaver lockout meaning there will be no chance of selecting reverse. The previous owner drove it fine but it takes some getting used to. Also. a couple of months ago. when I had it moved by tow truck on loading it. they some how tore a CV boot and lost all the oil. I have a new one somewhere (if I find it its included) an original type wrap around one so its not a massive job to replace just fiddly.
WHY I'M SELLING:I bought this following owning a beetle that I had as a daily driver. I was looking for something different and a bit cooler (although I loved my bug) however it was too low for every day use. I took it to a local garage to get it raised but the wouldn't touch it as I don't think they really knew how to do it. So I ended up buying a normal car and this has been moved from pillar to post since I haven't got any where to keep it local. so its ended up on my friends drive in Ashbourne but it has to be moved again soon. I have two options either sell it or pay to get it moved somewhere ells or sell it.  Ideally I would move it and do all the little jobs that need doing and ether use it as should or then sell it on but no matter where it is I am limited on time as I work away in the week.
LIST OF JOBS THAT NEED DOING/BAD POINTS.
Passenger door is stiffGear leaver dose not return to center Drivers door card needs clips to secure along the topBoth doors do not lock with the ignition key (I maybe have two new handles and a key) CV boot needs replacing + gearbox needs oil. Engine runs but has been sat for a while so I recommend new oil and plugs etc etc. Also the car has no choke. makes for a pain to get it going in the cold and wont idle until warm. Also backfired twice when I started it so maybe needs the timing checking. Speedo does not work Hole along the drivers sill about 1" wide and tapers to a thin slit. I couldn't get a photo. check the pic with the finger as it starts from the tip and runs to about the end of the right hand side picture as far as welding goes it's not a huge job. I dare say an amateur welder with a vice and hammer + small piece of sheet steel could do it. The hole was pointed out buy the guy at the garage when I tried to get it raised up he never mentioned anything else untoward. At least one tyre needs replacing as it has sat flat and perished Headlining needs re-gluing in two places The drivers side front quarter window has a new rubber and it's slightly thicker and wont allow it to shut. I think it needs trimming with a blade. No MOT - no tax (tax is free)A full service new brake fluid and a good clean and polish.
WHY TO BUY.  Well. apart from a list of jobs the average enthusiast with a few weekends free could sort. it's a pretty damn good car. Even with just the mechanical bit's sorted it's still an awesome car these are rare to find and with all the little cosmetic bits done maybe even worthy of a prize. I went a type 3&4 show a couple years ago and this would of beat the majority of them!
RIGHT.
The car is stored ant my friends house in Ashbourne. Derbyshire and I live in Stoke-On-Trent so viewing would preferably be kept to the weekends but my mate has said he won't mind showing the odd person around (between 18:30-20:30). should anyone not be able to make the weekend. Due to the distance I will have to travel. I would appreciate if people would kindly tell me that they are not going to show up after agreeing to look at the car and could please arrive on time. I don't mean on the dot but i don't want to get there for 12 and then someone turns up at 2 o'clock.
Secondly. this car is not scrap you are not doing me a great favor by reliving me of it so don't wind me up with stupid offers please.
Thirdly. while I will remain open to the world of possibilities that can come from a part exchange. I really don't want another project/corsa/vectra/ice cream van nor do I want a mundane vehicle or pikey gold ;)
please try to see the car before buying or coming to a deal as I don't want the old "you never said there where no airbags i don't want it" i have taken the best photos possible but due to me not taking the tyre valve with me i could not inflate the tyres to move it out of the drive. and please not i have made every effort to be accurate i may have missed bits. however nothing major has been overlooked I'm sure.
