Magazine featured VW type 25 /T3 caravelle camper for sale
Current customer rating: (631 votes ) based onIt's with a heavy heart I am putting my Type 25/T3 Caravelle up for sale.
Briefly It's a high spec 2. 1 Auto that was restored whilst in my custodianship and turned out particularly nice. so nice in fact it was fully featured in “Volksworld Camper & Bus” magazine including a centrefold pull out! Also best Type 25 at a couple of shows.
It's an excellent van and great to drive. the engine is extremely strong with loads of power. its got good brakes and all the power goodies. Its as close to a modern car drive with out actually being one! With all the benefits of being a cool camper too! It always attracts nice comments whenever i stop. Plus i can fit the pushchair. radio flyer and a weeks shopping in the boot!
It was restored using genuine (!) VW panels where available. that's one of the bonuses with these you can still get genuine parts from VW!
Including but not limited too replacing all four arches and corners and both large side panels. it still has all its original doors.
It was repainted in its original colour. flash silver. and looks fabulous.
Its had a fairly recent VW(!) auto box and torque converter. so it changes gear exactly as it should. super smooth and virtually undetectable with no delay or jerking. Easy revs all the way up to 100mph or faster if your feeling saucy!
The engine is the 2. 1 112bhp DJ model and has never let me down. and will cruise all day at 70 mph+ in comfort no matter what you have on board or how steep the hills.
Now for some of the goodies;
Factory power steering. with Carat steering wheel.
Fully working factory power/heated mirrors
Factory sunroof
Pilots seats and armrest seats in back. (Both rear and middle seats).
Lowered with –60mm AVO springs
Mercedes polished and lacquered wheels.
NOS chrome bumpers
Opening quarter-lights & Caravelle green glass all round
Factory opening side windows
New VW handles all round. everything opens on one key!
Dark rear lights & smoked front indicators.
Genuine rear light blenders
Factory heated rear screen
Rear wash wipe
Rear heater (and extremely good front heater/blower)
Loads of new genuine trim and bits.
New genuine front grills
Three factory rear seat belts. Currently 5 seater but i have the middle seat to seat seven with belts.
Fold-away double bed.
Set of silver screen curtains
Loads more I can't think of. basically if it needed it I tried to get NOS.
Really nice van. not the usual faked up rubbish. I put loads of time and money and effort setting this up correctly and it drives fantastically. it will cruise all day at motorway speeds in comfort. or give a boy racer a run for his money. Everything works. It needs nothing! Sold with full MOT.
Ok. that's the hard sell done.
Now the slight down side;
It has actually been used on and off since the paint job a few years ago so is now not perfect any more.
It has a small dent on the passenger wing where it was driven into by a crazy East London taxi driver and also has been scratched on the wall outside my house when driven by the wife…
It also has a few marks here and there too.
All annoying but not particularly serious. its perfectly fine to use and enjoy as is and for many more years and still turns heads or I have had a few quotes to repair it from £500 upwards.
Take a look at the pics. i have tried to be as honest as possible. it's really not that bad.
It could. with a little time and a little more money. be a show winner again. Unfortunately having a “no welding required” Samba and two year old twins I have neither. so I'm ready to pass it on to a new owner.
With the paint done it's easily a £10000+ van again. or use it as is and not worry!
Please come and see it and drive it!
My daughters love it and will be very sorry to see the "peep peep" go.
