Firstly. here's the “techy bits” & “basic essentials”:

And now here's the Really Interesting Stuff:

We bought the Mini Cooper for our son over 15 years ago. on 18th May 2001. It was a present for him for getting thru Uni unscathed - & with flying colours!

The recorded mileage at that date was 7. 00. We had it checked out & it was genuine.  

Its date of 1st Reg was 7th Jan 1998. so its average annual mileage (just over 2. 00pa) was pretty low at the time we bought it. The current mileage is 20. 42. so its average annual mileage during our son's ownership has remained pretty low – only 896pa. That – and the fact that he has looked after it well – explains why it's in excellent condition today.

There's a full record of the cash he has spent on it – for example. he has had the genuine Cooper Sports Arches & the wider wheels added since we bought it. And a thorough restoration was completed in 2014 to ensure that the bodywork is in excellent condition.

There is a full paperwork history for service and other maintenance costs to demonstrate this car has been cherished. The Mini has always been garaged since we bought it. It has always been a “third car” - and only comes out in fine weather!

Reason for selling? He reckons he can't get the 2 kids. wife & himself – and luggage – and “kids' stuff” – in the mini. even for a short holiday - & even though we remind him …. “when you were little. we used to pack you & your sister & everything we needed into OUR mini. without ANY problem - & set off on trips all over the country”. In spite of our views. it seems that. nowadays. they can't even do the weekend big shop without a rumbling great 4x4……. And he reckons he doesn't get time to drive it nowadays. So. it's time it went to a good. new home where it will continue to be properly looked after.

If you know Minis. you will be familiar with where they traditionally develop “rusty bits”. There is NO rust on this vehicle. You'll often see the words “Immaculate”. “Excellent Condition”. etc bandied around in adverts – then when you look closely at the vehicle you will find that the reality doesn't match the hype.

Honesty is always the best policy……. our Mini Cooper IS in excellent condition. it IS immaculate.

You will not find a better example of this Classic car at such a reasonable price. And really fine examples of Classic Rover Coopers ARE appreciating in value - so this car is also an investment. not just a great British fun car to drive. provided that you "keep it in the manner to which it has become accustomed"(!).

Just have a look at (for example) Autocars website. Ok. there's ONE “John Cooper Works Conversion Mini Cooper” currently advertised – & it is VERY nice - and if you have £23. 95 to spend. then good for you!! But there's an awful lot of rubbish out there too.
