Hi. welcome to this auction for a 1996 Ford Econoline Dayvan Supplied as a base van to Tiara Motor Coach corporation (TMC) Indiana who converted it to a dayvan. could be the reason its on an 'R' (1998) registration As the DVSA go by date of first use for registration. Its a 4. 9l (300ci) straight 6. automatic transmission. 7 seats. (centre 2 removeable. quick release. no tools required) Manual folding rear seat turns into a bed. American import. Left Hand Drive. When we bought it on ebay some years ago the description was very. very minimal and to our cost we found it needed a lot of work. so. Spent about £600 getting it through its first MOT test in our care with the following work: -Front suspension coil springs replaced -Front Anti roll bar end bushes replaced with upgraded polyurethane -Tyres (on powder coated 15x8 front 15x10 rear alloy wheels with new nuts. original tyres were perished. and a couple of wheel nuts were missing) -Reconditioned power steering box. fitted with new feed and return pipes. fresh fluid. -New steering centre link bar -Both pre-cat 02/Lambda sensors (denso high quality) -Faulty front wheel only ABS system fully deleted (to MOT requirements) -Every metal brake pipe on the van (about 40 foot of pipe in total) replaced. new brake fluid with non-rusting cupro nickel pipe and new fittings where applicable -Exhaust system supports sorted and decent rubbers fitted -New rear drums and shoes -New rear foglamp unit last year I took the engine out. stripped it. checked. cleaned and painted it and rebuilt it. replacing the following: -Head skimmed -Valves re-lapped -New tappets (all 12) -New water pump -Replaced every single gasket (including the head gasket). with high performance fel-pro complete engine set. -New head bolts -Replaced a couple of snapped manifold to downpipe bolts -New thermostat -New radiator and Stant racing radiator cap -New 'air pump delete' shorter auxillary drive belt -Reconditioned Starter motor -reconditioned alternator -Distributor cap. rotor arm. spark plugs and Ignition leads -New 5 year longlife coolant (it holds 9 litres total!) -New oil and filter. obviously! (holds about 7 litres of this!) -Put a K&N filter on it (complete original air box/feed system will be given to buyer) When I pulled the engine found the torque converter had been reconditioned/replaced. looked pretty recent. Bad points. as honest as I can be: It has Various small dents and scratches. Cliches like 'age related' and 'its 20 years old' apply. Has some cosmetic rust. some on the left hand lower 'sill' (chassis is good so not a problem for MOT test) some scabbing on the right hand roof rail. Interior isn't perfect. but isn't a s**t hole either! not the usual mouldy saggy ripped mess american vehicle interiors can become at that age. Worst of it is some cracked plastics and a loose arm on one of the centre seats. I removed the auxillary air injection system and pump (only required for US cali emissions regs) to improve economy. as a result. it emits a short sharp belt squeak on startup. I bought a new tensioner which might cure this. it doesn't bother me that much so I never got round to fitting it. but will include it with the van for the new owner. along with all the stuff I removed. I gutted the air pump to run as an Idler pulley in case the new tensioner didn't cure it and bothered the new owner. and have a new standard length belt to go with it. Also as a result of this the engine management light is on. but ONLY because of this. all important systems and sensors are perfect. Tappets are still bedding. make a very slight noise but only for a couple of minutes when cold. Right hand rear lamp lens is cracked. I have bought 2 new ones and may get round to fitting them before the van sells. if not they can go with it. Sidesteps are usable but not pretty. My future plans for it did include re-making these or just removing them and buying new ones. Spare wheel carrier under the van is broken. new one is £85 plus shipping from rockauto. com. or you could use a suzuki jeep rear door mount (same wheel stud pattern) or make a similar (transit/jap 4x4) wind up wheel carrier fit. Good points: -This is a reliable. useable vehicle that can be driven away and used. NOT a 'project' -Not as bad on fuel as you would imagine. although an LPG kit would be a good investment if you plan on using it as a daily driver. -Drives beautifully. handles better than a transit on its low profile wheels. drives more like a luxury car than a van. -Easy to get parts for. parts are cheap from rockauto. com. after shipping cost the same or not much more than buying similar parts over here. Parts from there take 1-2 weeks max to arrive. Doubt you will have to buy much though. I spent enough already! -Side exit exhaust sounds lovely and super smooth. volume is goldilocks. not too loud not too quiet. -Its the most comfortable thing I have ever driven. Went to cornwall and back in it after the engine work. it made the journey a pleasure. -Very versatile van. LOTS of space inside. As you can see I have spent thousands on this and many. many hours (I have reciepts for at least £1200 of parts. and photographic evidence of the engine work) so not bothered about letting it go for nothing. I like it enough to keep it if I don't get the right money for it. Only selling to make space and fund other projects I have lying around that are not useable vehicles! As usual with anything like this viewing is strongly advised. can be test driven if you can prove fully comp insurance. Happy bidding Boring bit: Strictly cash on collection or bank transfer (no paypal and sending a 'collection agent' I am aware of the scam so don't waste both our time trying) You Bid to buy not to come and haggle. Come and look/try first if you are in any doubt of its value to you. Payment and collection within 7 days please. unless agreed otherwise prior to auction end
