EXTERIOR
This sleek elegant sports coupe is finished in Baikal Blue. (Code LK5A). which was one of three exclusive colours only available on the GTi. A deep lustrous shine is the result of a refresh commissioned at great expense and will amaze onlookers. The tapered bodywork blends beautifully into the moulded bumpers clearly displaying all the hallmarks of Giogetto Giugiaro. the Italian automobile designer. widely recognised as one of the finest and most prolific car designers. Supplying dealer number plates and rear window sticker are still fitted and the discreet GTi badge adorns the tailgate. All front and rear lens covers are correct Hella items and there is a tiny hairline crack to the nearside indicator. All glass is factory original with the VW logos and the front screen still has the ‘running in' sticker attached. Tremendous.

INTERIOR
The Blue dual tone cloth upholstery. (Code EH). is fully commensurate with the low 24. 90 miles covered and along with the rest of the sporty interior justifies the term. time warp. Carpeting. headlining and door cards are in fabulous order and will delight perfection seeking individuals. All controls and gauges work with engineered precision including the additional VDO gauge and analogue clock housed in the unmarked centre console. The sports steering wheel proudly displays the Wolfburg Crest and all natural veins are visible due to the low mileage covered. The expensive and working Blaupunkt Melbourne M21 radio remains in situ along with the supplying dealer tax disc holder. The dash has no cracks. The boot area is remarkably clean with just a few marks still displaying the identification sticker on the cross member and a parcel shelf with unbroken straps. Superb.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
This rare cult-setting car is in excellent mechanical order and really asserts what early GTi ownership should be about. fun! The engine produces 110bhp at 6100rpm and 140Nm of torque at 5000rpm. enough to sprint to 60mph in 8. 7 seconds and achieve a top speed of 115mph. The seemingly endlessly willing engine and such an addictive exhaust note are guaranteed to excite the occupants and a smile on your face is a permanent fixture! The engine bay is clean for bonnet up exhibiting and has had a recent full service including cam-belt. The 5 speed sports gearbox is precise and is a joy to use.

WHEELS. TYRES & BRAKES
Fitted with the desirable GTi alloy sports wheels unmarked with casting marks visible. Branded 175/70 R13 tyres. of which two are still believed to be the factory fitted Michelin items. have excellent tread remaining. The servo-assisted diagonally divided dual-circuit braking system with ventilated discs up front and drums to the rear have been overhauled and do an excellent job of stopping the car.

HISTORY FILE
Supplied new by Volkswagen Main Dealers. T Hayselden Limited on the 1st August 1981. an original new car sales invoice outlines a purchase price of £6. 82. 59. Mr Francis Medlam has remained the registered keeper from new and returned to the supplying dealer for servicing eight times until the vehicle had covered 18. 31 miles. A subsequent seven service entries at a specialist along with previous MOT certificates warrant the low mileage of 24. 90 and reveal the fastidious care bestowed upon this example. A fanatical low mileage car collector and vehicle historian. Mr Preston. took ownership in 2011 and immediately set about perfecting a what would be. a perfect car to most. to meet his exacting standards. Nostalgic seekers will enjoy old tax discs being retained and sight of the first service coupon. The original A5 VW Dealer blue document holder is also with the car containing all owner manuals and instruction pamphlets along with the Scirocco sales brochure from 1981. Two sets of keys with the key number tag are also supplied.
