AUSTIN MINI FLAME 1989 FITTED WITH 1800CC HONDA VTEC ENGINE

This car has been completely restored over a 2 year period and given a bare metal respray inside and out in vw Mango green with an old English white roof. Every last item has been removed from the car and either refurbished or replaced with new. The car is fitted with an 1800cc Honda VTEC engine together with a special front subframe. The front of the car has been extended by 75mm to accommodate the engine. The car has only covered around 600 miles since the restoration and was dry stored for the last 2 years while on SORN. It has just passed its mot with no advisories.

BODY

New sills. door skins. front wings. front panel. apex panels. rear valance. part boot floor and bonnet ( in fibreglass ).

Painted Wood and Picket wheel arches.

Complete front end panels removable as a unit.

Downton door mirrors.

Stainless steel bumpers. Front bumper attached with brackets and bumper flange removed to prevent rust problems.

Honda dash gauges. wiring loom. fuse boxes and column switches fitted.

Fuel gauge wizard fitted to correct fuel gauge reading.

Body fully waxoyled including box sections.

MPI fuel tank.

Dropped steering column.

Internal gear change linkage. Gearstick mounted on alloy pedestal adjacent to steering wheel.

6 point padded roll cage painted in body colour.

Honda crx front reclining seats fitted.

Drivers 4 point safety harness.

New heater matrix.

New windscreen rubbers and chrome strips.

New fuel. brake lines and battery cable.

FRONT SUSPENSION

7 x 13 Minilite style wheels with 175 x 50 x 13 yokohama 048 tyres. Set of standard 12” steel wheels supplied with car for mot purposes.

Mini metro steering arms fitted.

HI-LO adjustable units fitted.

On car adjustable track control arms and tie bars.

All new bearings. inner outer cv joints. track rod ends.

Metro turbo 4 pot callipers with new discs and pads.

Braided brake hoses.

Polyurethane bushes.

Solid top and bottom front subframe mountings

REAR SUSPENSION

New rear subframe.

HI-LO units fitted.

Camber adjuster brackets.

New wheel bearings.

One new radius arm.

ENGINE GEARBOX

Honda b18c4 engine with 5 speed box.

Special heavily modified and braced front subframe.

Limited slip diff.

Standard Honda ecu and immobiliser fitted.

Power approx 190bhp.

Remote sports air filter.

Stainless 4 branch exhaust manifold heat lagged and shielded.

Skunk 2 inlet manifold.

2 3/8” exhaust system with stainless silencer.

New Honda Civic alloy radiator with electric fan and shroud.

New timing belt. fan belt and water pump.

Silicone hoses.

Engine has done just over 90k miles.

The car has just been serviced. new oil. filters and plugs. plus gearbox oil change and is ready to go. no test pilots or tyre kickers please!

This car is extremely fast and only suited to experienced drivers. The steering is very heavy at parking speeds due to the engine weight but lightens at speed. Due to the engine power there is also a bit of torque steer which could be adjusted out with a bit of effort. Although the restoration has been carried out to a high standard the car is not to concours standard as it was intended to be used on the road.
