Saab 96

Saab 96 V4 I purchased this car last winter whilst my bike was off the road. Purchased from a friend who owned this car for some years. Prior to my  purchase had been off the road for many years and over this period bare metal stripped with a view to create a classic rally car. which never happened. Found to be in excellent solid condition when stripped see photos. The car was subsequently painted but never put back together being moved from garage to garage during the time.     Following my purchase the car was re-assembled and various parts replaced for reliability and for the preparation of a MOT. New brake pads. shoes. hoses. cylinders. New water pump. fuel pump. and 2 ball joints. This week engine service replacing plugs. oil/air filters. distributor cap. rotor arm. points and condenser and gearbox oil. Once MOTD it was found the original clutch was slipping when going up steep hills and this maybe why it was originally parked up. A new Sachs clutch was fitted 1000 miles ago.       The original drivers seat must have disappeared at sometime and a worn-replacement base found which is of a slightly different shade and ripped on the bolster. The last owner purchased a rear seat of the same material to enable replacement and correct match but this again was never done. this goes with the car incase the new owner wishes to do so. Note the interior is showing its age. the seat material when new was very thin on these cars therefore a common wear point.
In excellent running/mechanical condition covered approximately 64. 00 miles with all original water pipes clips and bonnet sound deadening in place as it left the factory. The body work is very solid with 2 old repairs in the usual places ie to the drivers pedal area and rear inner wings by the shock mounts which where done before this car came off the road. Everything else is solid and original.  
 There are a couple of small chips in the paint here and there but you have to look to notice. 2 things that are missing are the elephant ear badges and the spats that attach to the leading edge of the rear wheel arches see photos. Please note this car is over 40 years of age and therefore you are not buying a new car. The car is currently MOTd until mid November but will be sold with fresh MOT for new owners convenience. Free road tax and £70 a year for me to insure with R+H. Please note mileage may increase as I cover approximately 100 miles a week commuting to work. I used the car everyday through last winter.
