This is a rare 911. one of a small number of Ts made in 1973 with Bosch "K-Jetronic" (C. I. S) fuel injection.

They're sometimes known as 1973 1/2 models - this one was an original California car registered in San Francisco in January 1973. I've owned it since 1998. but for personal and economic reasons it's been off the road for 10 years. I always planned to restore it. but realistically that won't happen for decades and it's beginning to deteriorate. Hence this reluctant sale.
So what's wrong with it? Here's the list:The brakes are almost seized - a caliper rebuild and new discs are probably needed. The targa top needs refurbishing. although it's still OK on the outside. The mileage is probably wrong as when I bought the car the odometer was broken at 141. 00! This is quite common with early 911s. So I repaired it. returned it to 00000 and then put 66. 23 miles on it in about 8 years. So the mileage is at least 207. 23 - almost certainly a bit more. The rev counter stopped working recently. New points may cure this problem. as the rev counter takes its impulses from the distributor.  The horn doesn't workThe engine sounds metallic. although when warm it sounds a lot smoother and doesn't smoke (hooray!). This may be a harmless problem with the exhaust 'tapping' on the rear body work. or it may be the valves or something else.  The washer mechanism for windscreen washers is broken.  The 'low fuel' warning light comes on when the tank isn't near empty. Various warning and instrument illumination lights don't workMost of the rubber seals around the windows and targa top are perished or in bad condition. A few are OKThe interior light doesn't work. The throttle linkage is stiffVarious exterior lights don't work. although in the past cleaning the terminals fixes this. Rust has appeared in various places on the body although the structure is still sound. The seats and carpets are very worn to the point where they may not be restorable. The passenger sun visor was never there. even back in 1998. and the driver's side sun visor is brittle and fragile. In 1998 when I bought the car it had useless "Cool Air" dealer-fitted air conditioning so I removed that. Purists may wish that I'd kept it. Sorry!I've lost the bolt for the folding rear seats :-(The driver's seatbelt webbing is worn and may have to be replaced. The body has a small dent next to the the engine lid and lots of small paint blemishes where the yellow/brown and even purple paint come through. It's left hand drive. The wheels are fine structurally but could do with paint/polishing. The passenger side window crank knob fell off last week-end :-(The car has gone from Royal Purple to brown to yellow to black. So the current colour is not original. sadly. I haven't got the original toolkit. jack or handbook. The engine leaks oil. but in my experience all early 911s do this. I had to replace the oil tank years ago and had to use a later oil tank which had to have some oil line holes filled with metal filler If those 'bungs' fail. :-(It hasn't got an MOT and isn't safe for a test drive because the brakes hardly work. But you can drive it slowly up and down our tiny driveway
What's good about it?In the past three years I've fixed the windscreen wipers (rebuild motor and restored linkage). and also fitted new heater boxes and the cable to the lever. so the heating system now works. The stalk that controls the windscreen wipers is new. The engine starts and runs and settles down quite nicely even now. It had new synchronisers fitted to the gearbox along with a new clutch in 2000. and hasn't done too many miles since then. so that should be fine.   The front suspension pan that provides stiffness to the front body and underside of the petrol tank was replaced in 2004. and again. that should be fine. There's a lot of history with this car - from 1983 to now. It's a matching numbers car. but I can't find the letter from Porsche that proves that. So I've applied for a new letter which I'll send you when it arrives. and in the meantime you'll just have to trust me on that one. I've got a load of spares including a second hand airbox and a new distributor that I never bothered to fit which you can also have. The guy I bought it off claimed that the valves were done 5000 miles before I bought it (i. e at about 136. 00 miles. That sounds right to me as I've never touched the engine except for routine valve adjustment. Shortly after I bought it I had the chain tensioners changed to oil pressure operated ones. This is recognised recommended upgrade and they've never caused any trouble. There's a big fat file full of bills from 1983 to now. Fuchs wheels. although 4 of them seem a bit wider than was standard in 1973. Ask me anything you like about the car.
Obviously when you buy it. you'll have to pick it up and trailer it to wherever.
