1959 FORD 100E ANGLIA HISTORIC VEHICLE MOT for sale

Current customer rating: current rating for this car(2.1) based on 501 votes
For sale is one of our classic cars. the 1959 Ford 100E Anglia. which I have owned for the last 17 years. and known for the last 30 years as previously owned by a friend for 15 years also. With just one other owner the Anglia has had just three keepers in its 54 years.
Until my ownership the Anglia had spent her entire life on the IOW and still has the suppliers plate of Frank Cheverton IOW on the interior sill.
The registration number is non transferable. Originally registered as SDL 553. the Anglia was featured in an article with the previous owner in the Practical Classics December 1992 edition. For personal reasons they decided to keep the registration and "Sadie the Lady" became our Rosie.
The Anglia is both MOT and tax exempt. however I do think an MOT is important and the current MOT is until June 2014 and the tax until March 2014.
As you can see. she is a bright cheerful red colour. which is an original. if unusual Ford colour. Due to the colour and registration. she is known affectionately by family and friends as Rosie and has been used in the Towergate Classic Motor Insurance Company advertisements in Practical Classics in 2010-2011.
The interior seating is in good order and is finished in two tone grey. as are the door cards. the head lining is in white and is also good. The carpets are black and in good condition.
Some of the many & unusual extras include. a rear demister. period roof rack. steel sun visor. chrome headlight surrounds & peaks. period style mud flaps. period front fog lights. rear reversing lights. badge bar & original style wheel embellishers and hub caps.
A tow bar has also been supplied and fitted by Watling Engineers of Park Street. St Albans to enable a small trailer to be towed to events and shows. (Trailer not included in the sale but available on separate auction. see other items)
The bumpers are nice and straight and were re-chromed about 14 years ago. so still bright. but there is a small area on the front bumper where the chrome has started to peel a bit. though this does not detract from the over all appearance.
The vehicle has been converted to negative earth and an alternator has been fitted to replace the dynamo.
A radio cassette player has been fitted in the glove box out of sight. so you can still have your choice of music in a period setting. Rock & Roll. pop. classical. folk. the choice is yours.
The engine is a sidevalve 1172 petrol engine. so very easy to maintain.
A new front windscreen rubber has been fitted. also one rear side window rubber. The rear screen rubber and the other side rubber will be included in the sale.
An extra leaf spring has been fitted to give a more comfortable ride and prevent bounce.
A replacement speedo was fitted in 2002 which added about 1000 miles to the original mileage which is now recorded a 85548.
I was assured by the previous owner that the Anglia had never been welded and I have found no evidence to the contrary. She is a very solid little car. having always been cosseted and garaged.
Four new tyres were fitted in Nov 2011 and also a new battery which is guaranteed until Nov 2014.
I would describe the car as very good. but obviously not concourse.
There is the odd blemish to the paintwork as you would expect for a car of this age (54 years) but over all still in nice condition.
During the last four years the Anglia has travelled less than 800 miles due to the ownership of other vehicles. she deserves to be used and enjoyed. hence the sale.
There is some vehicle history back to the early 80's. mostly mot's. receipts and tax discs.
Vehicle is located in the Wellingborough Area of Northamptonshire. To arrange a viewing call Jim on either 07779971433 or 07774298013 between 9. 30 am-9. 30 pm
The vehicle is advertised elsewhere and I reserve the right to end the auction early should it become necessary.
