1955 White COE cabover engine truck, chassis cab

had a few time wasters via ebay on this one. please don't waste your time and mine if you are not serious about buying the truck.

1955 White 3015 COE chassis cab. Recently imported as a chassis/cab as we had to lose the box body as it was too big to fit in a container. This is a rare old truck now. sought after in the States to both restore or use as a rodded car hauler. Once there were thousands of these all over the States. but now numbers are low. and this may be the only one in the UK. With the low slung. rounded cab. these lend themselves very well as a lowered pickup or car carrier. Most people will likely put the cab on a modern chassis. but the way this chassis is low and sweeps up over the rear axle. it would lend itself very well to airbags. so. make a rodded car hauler using the original chassis.  

The truck was sold to us as a non runner. but we have had the petrol powered "White Mustang Super Power" engine running from a bottle and it ran really well. Gear linkage is disconnected and brakes are down so we haven't tried driving it. Most will at least want to fit a modern engine and gearbox anyway. maybe a Cummins 6bt from a DAF 45 or similar which can be picked up very cheaply and would make it a reliable and economical driver.

Cab is an electric tilt. but we haven't had it working as yet. We wont be doing anything to this one as it is either a full restoration project. or cab swap onto something modern. so no point in us throwing money at it. making it dearer to buy. only to find it's all a waste when the new owner has different ideas.

There is some rust in cab floors. a little bit on driver door and a little on the top of the dash and door frame area. all easy to fix. Other than that it's pretty straight and solid. Chassis is dead straight and in excellent condition.

Glass is all good and door windows go down and up. both doors open and close fine as do the side opening engine hatches. Dash is complete but the glass cover is broken. The interior light works and I think the headlights etc worked too but we blew the bulbs as we started it from a 12v battery and it is 6 volts.  

All tyres hold air and it rolls easily. and steers okay.

MOT exempt. free road tax and you can drive this on any car licence even if you don't have the 7. 5 tonne entitlement. as this is allowed on heavy trucks which are made pre 1960. I am awaiting the NOVA letter from customs and will have it UK registered shortly. I can arrange delivery on your behalf. Please no silly offers. this is rare and trucks this size cost a lot to transport in the States prior to shipping.

The only things I'd consider as part ex or swaps is a UK registered classic tractor unit. and low loader/step frame/sloper trailer that I could use to haul my old stuff to shows. Old American units or the likes of a Scammell Crusader. but no project trucks as right now I don't have time. I would need one already on the road and very tidy.

I can organise delivery for you using a local professional car carrier. but I MUST STRESS that I am only a customer of theirs. I have no control over the delivery once I drop the vehicle at their yard. I can only tell you what they tell me regarding delivery. The vehicle MUST be paid in full before it leaves my yard NO EXCEPTIONS. the delivery driver CANNOT take money for vehicles. You WILL pay the delivery driver in cash for the delivery only. Payment for the vehicle can be made by cash. bank transfer or a cheque which must clear before vehicle leaves me. If you cannot adhere to these conditions. please do not waste both yours and my time with endless e-mails. texts. etc only to end up with a failed deal as you don't have the bottle to pay for the vehicle. You always have the option to come and view it and meet me in person before buying. Viewing by appointment only as I'm not always at the yard. I could be out on a recovery job. delivering a truck locally or driving a tanker as I do relief driving for a fuel delivery company as well.

Sorry to do this. just a quick note to respectfully remind everybody that this is a classified sales advert to sell this and other vehicles. I have been spending far too much time assisting people who have imported by themselves and got stuck. or from an unscrupulous importer who sells you something and leaves you out on a limb.
