Selling my Triumph Spitfire 1500. registered in 1980. JOK 788W.

A very original car.   Only the bits that have broken have been replaced.   Colour: British Leyland ‘vermillion red' - which to the rest of us is bright orange. Black soft top (A couple of poppers to replace on this. but fixes firmly. and two small splits where the quarterpanes join the hood – see photo. )  Tonneau cover. All weather car cover.

68. 00 miles at present. I have owned the car since 2010 at which point it had done 63. 00.   The mileage is backed up by a lot of old MOTs and a service sticker in the engine bay recording 57. 00 miles in 1996.  It's been stored in a barn and I've only ever driven it in the dry.   Over the 6 years and 5000 miles that I've owned it I have done the following work:

Reconditioned differential professionally fitted.

New rear leafspring.   Front springs replaced and new shock absorbers all round. New front upper ball joints. Replaced both front wheel bearings.

New seat foams – no more yellow bits showering the carpet. New transmission tunnel cover.

New battery (this year). coil and HT leads.   Points replaced with electronic ignition.

Four new tyres.

Fuel tank seals replaced.

New seat belts.

New water pump. – Replaced with the slightly older type which has a permanently driven fan attached. replacing the viscous fan.   This was because the viscous fan had also deteriorated. It is a more expensive thing to replace and doesn't always cut in early enough.

New fan belt. New coolant hoses.   New heater valve.

New brake master cylinder.

Just had carbs tuned.

Paintwork: all original and still looks good.   A few small cracks on o/s of bonnet (see photo). Some touching up but generally very presentable.

NO rust that I can see anywhere. Factory Zeibart coating seems to have really done its job.   It forms a black line along the very lower part of the bodywork – not to everyone's taste and can be removed with lots of elbow grease. but it has certainly been effective.

There isn't an overdrive. just four gears and reverse.   These all work well – no jumping out or problems getting into gear.   The exhaust system is in good condition – the original configuration. no twin pipes or chrome bits.

The car runs on unleaded petrol with additive. – no sign that any engine rebuild has ever happened.   This might be my next job. or one for the new owner.

Comes with Haynes manual. Also with the specialist tools for pulling the rear hub & drive shaft. needed to replace the rear wheel bearings.   There's nothing wrong with the rear bearings but the tools are hard to find so I bought them when I saw them. (value approx. £130).

This has been a great first classic car.   Selling in order to move up to a TR6.
