Hi and welcome to my reluctant sale of my MK1 Triumph Stag.
A 3. 0 correct Triumph engine and manual 4 speed gear box with overdrive.
This is the most desirable combination i've been told. She also benefits from being Tax exempt. JUST PASSED ITS MOT and taxed till November 2013.
Firstly I have a file of history about an inch thick! dating back to the eighties with so many receipts for servicing etc etc. I have photos and even old tax discs! This history is massive and really is comprehensive. not to mention all the receipts for the parts I have purchased. I have broken 3 previous stags up to get this one to this stage. The three previous ones were complete basket cases. and beyond repair. I have also many new and second hand parts which I willing to sell separately. or come to some arrangement.
This car has had much improvement over the last 4 years of me owning it. but is not for the purists as it has a number of subtle enhancements that I feel add to the look and drive of the car.
Uprated 4 core radiator. uprated and repositioned alternator. timing chains and trensioners done less than 200 miles ago. new shocks front and rear. new discs and pads on the front. re bushed front and rear. Drivers floor and out riggers replaced and all underneath undersealed. Full stainless exhaust.
New tyres and highly polished mk 2 alloy wheels (including the spare). Lots of chrome under the bonnet (went a bit mad. but can be removed if needed). I have also fitted new front seats from a jaguar xjs which apart from being grey (I have the dye to colour them black but not got round to it) look very stock in the car and again can be easily removed or changed back to the mk 1 seats (plenty on e-bay. ) It also has the very rare American cruise lights.
The carpets are in good condition as is the rest of the interior. The car also has a period radio cassette and 10 disc changer. New badges and I have refurbished the front grill including adding a very period set of Lucas FX95 front fog lamps. Steel black and silver number plates. Large bore stainless exhaust. Classic Moto-Lita leather and chrome steering wheel (beautiful). I do have the original steering wheel if you want to put this on.
The car was re sprayed some 3 years ago. however not the best of jobs but still is shiny and bright. I have also got a set of stripes (like mk2) to go on it but again not got round to it. The soft top is in lovely condition however the frame has damage and needs repairing. I have a spare hood and frame which comes with the sale. All the electrics lights indicators work well as you would expect.
The car drives well. but would at some point need the shell end bearing doing. This has never bothered me and doesn't detract from the driving experience . This could be done with the engine in situe. I would at this point have the engine bay repainted as it does show its age in there (but no rust!) Oh also since taking her to have the mot done I noticed the overdrive switch has stopped working. I think this is due to the switch or connector (lack of use as it did work last time it was out on a run. ) She needs to be used more hence why this is the right time for me to pass it on to someone who can enjoy her more.
I would strongly recommend you to come and look at her. But please remember she is not concorse or fully stock but can be changed back if wanted. She is 41 years old and has been through a few face lifts! But still a great car and well worth what I need for it. I've sunk many thousands into her over the last 4 years and i'm sure you wouldnt be dissapointed.
