VW Kombi 1976

This special little Van is ready to move on from us. We have taken care of Ruby now for about 6 years. it pains us. but honestly finding the time to enjoy her just isn't available anymore. We plan to use the funds to upgrade our 'everyday car'

I have a massive sentimental investment in Ruby. I brought her sight unseen about 6 years ago from Sydney. had her trucked down. and we were heart broken. ripped of completely. The selling was very dishonest.

Within a short amount of time. we still fell in love with the van. and felt that it was my responsibility to save her.

After hours of you-tube 50. 00+ trips to supercheap. I gave it a crack. and im quietly proud.

Ruby still has rust. and all I did was use bog and fibreglass. however they all are these days. Full camper in the back. in good sound condition. good rock n roll seat. bunk. all in good condition. Has its on water tank. sink. gas. and electricity with multiple power points. Great storage. with BBQ and a shower. New cooker. fridge works I believe. but I would replace. door is a bit stuffed

I will 'dot point' from here on. as there is so much to say.

: New windscreen ( only driven once with it )

: New door handles on cab

: New door cards

: New indicator lenses

: Cab floor was 'lackered' and is solid

: Tires all 90%

: New front brake pads

: All visible rust removed and patched up be myself ( I am no panelbeater )

: New paint ( I am no painter. however. I should be. looks great. no clear coat ( didn't have the confidence )

: New plugs. leads. distributer. engine foam. oil. filter. points. /strong>

What made us fall in love with Ruby is that she just drove all day. without complaint. we maintained that reliability. and I would drive her around Australia tomorrow. mechanically . forget about.

If we were keeping her? we would.

: Replace the head lining in the cab. and camper ( I was quoted $300 about 6 months ago )

: The sliding door. I tried my best. like I said im no panelbeater. still looks great from 20 feet away. but its buggered ( still works fine )

: The B piller. should mention this first. I would get a doner van. have it cut out. and weld a new one in. It's currently repaired with fibreglass. but because it is structural. a little more seriousness is required in that area. Easily done.
