The Beetle needs little introduction. occupying as it does. a
significant position in the minds and hearts of a mobile global
audience from as far back as 1938 with over 21 million
manufactured. Indeed the Beetle is the longest-running and
most-manufactured car of a single design platform anywhere in the
world. During the 1950's. the car was modified progressively; the
obvious visual changes mostly concerned the rear windows. In March
1953. the small oval two-piece rear window was replaced by a
slightly larger single-piece window. More dramatically. in August
1957. a much larger full width rear window replaced the oval one.
Part of the cult status is attributed to it being one of a few cars
with an air-cooled. horizontally opposed engine design and the
consequent ease of repair and modification. instead of the more
conventional and technically complex water-cooled engine
design.

Presented in the elegant colour combination of Sea Sand. this
charming righthand drive 1300cc example was built at the Wolfsberg
Factory in Germany in late January 1966. It was then shipped to the
UK and registered with its first owner on March 1st. 1966. There
have been only two owners of this vehicle which remains in 'as new'
condition having covered only 37. 00 miles. The history file is
comprehensive and. given the unusually low mileage. this Beetle is
a something of a rarity.
