The car's first owner was a J Scott-Hepburn who enjoyed trials success in his MG J2 prior to buying this MG PB. The car was delivered via Anderson LTD of Newton Mearns in December 1935. Scott-Hepburn later wrote an article (documented) about it transformation into a lightweight trials car which was published in The Sports Car in April 1937.

In 1937 Scott-Hepburn sold the MG to the second owner E. C Haesendonck of Chadwell Heath. His brother was owner of the famous JB 7524. one of the famous ‘Cream Cracker' team cars. The Mg was then race prepared with the invoice “tunning specially for brookslands”.
A supercharger was fitted for the 1938 season at Crystal palace and lined up against Cyril Hawley's Alfa Romeo 8C. George Abecassis' blown Alta 2-Litre. Peter Aiken's Frazer Nash-BMW. A Loader's SS Jaguar and Arthur Dobson's Riley Six to finish 10th in the Crystal Palace Plate handicap. This promising start was followed with a fine 3rd place in October and a 2nd in class at the South London circuit in 1939.

The PB's finest hour arrived on 18th of June 1953 when it was entered into the BRDC's British Empire Trophy Race. At the challenging Douglas circuit on the Isle of Man it attracted a top class field. This included the Jaguar C-Type of Sterling Moss. Parnell's Aston Martin DB3S. Hans Reusch's Ferrari 340. Ken Wharton's Frazer Nash. Alan Brown's Cooper-Bristol and the Cooper-MG of Cliff Davis. Defying the odds and shrugging off a half litre capacity defect in the 1500cc heat “HS8860” finished 4th out of 14 and started 3rd on the grid. In the final heat the car got to second place by the end of the first lap but sadly later retired due to transmission failure. However it still had done enough to earn itself the nickname “beam Axle Bombshell”. bestowed by Autosport.
