Current customer rating: current rating for this car(2.05) based on 232 votes
A delightful. tall. upright. traditionally coach built limousine. with masses of character and period charm. We last sold this car in 1996. since when it has spent most of the time in a Museum. and has consequently covered very little mileage. The body is wonderfully sound. and incorporates some appealing features. such as a peak over the windscreen. a wood fillet surrounding the roof. and various silver plated fittings. The interior is scruffy but correct. original and appealing. The car has correct 21" wheels. with the facility to carry a second spare on the rear. as well as a trunk. if required. There are a selection of correct tools. some carried in the fitted trays in the offside running board. and others under the front seats. Running nicely. and offered re-commissioned. serviced and MoT tested.

Chassis No. GAJ38. Reg No. YT 3780. £36. 00.

Snippets:
Miss Marsha Swan took delivery of GAJ38 at 8 Upper Brook Street. Grosvenor Square London. Obviously a lady of means we wonder if she has a family connection to the Duke of Somerset & his family – in 1915 Nr 8 Upper Brook Street was lived in by Lady Geraldine Somerset (daughter of the 8th Duke by his 2nd wife). the link is the son of the 12th Duke - Edward Adolphus Ferdinand who had an affair with a Rosina Swan resulting in a son & daughter – Richard & Ruth. Edward died in 1869 & Rosina a few years later. Although the union was not formalised it was acknowledged by the 12th Duke & Duchess as Richard & Rosina became their wards and were given the family surname of St. Maur. living with their grandparents at Bullstrode Park. Upon the death of the 12th Duke (1885) Ruth inherited a fortune of some £80. 00 and went to live with her aunt Lady Guendolen Somerset (later Ramsden) in Upper Brook St. In 1887 Ruth was launched into society by her aunt & in her 1st season she met & married William George Frederick Cavendish-Bentinck with their sons becoming the 8th & the 9th Dukes of Portland.
