The TR8 appears to have a cam installed. The acceleration is much better than a stock TR8. There is a bog when u step on it. and then all heck breaks loose. Performance feels like it would rival a healthy 5. 0 Mustang. Shifting takes practice as the transmission is notchy to shift. as most TR7 and 8's Search words: MG MGA MGB MGC Jaguar. Austin Healey. British Corvette. TVR. Fiat. Alfa Romero. Rover. Aston Martin. WIKI: In 1979. a long awaited Michelotti re-designed TR7 Drophead (convertible) was introduced. and all subsequent production TR8s were convertibles.
