Evante MK II Gran Premio

Welcome to my auction for my Mk II Evante (Google Evante); the story behind these cars is well documented but in brief Vegantune decided to manufacture an "improved" Lotus Elan and in 1983 offered the Mk1 to the world. The Evante club has a good few of these on their register and owners rave over the quality and drivability. After the recession brought about changes to the ownership of the company the revamped and improved MkII was brought to the world. In truth I have been unable to find how many MkIIs were actually made and sold but believe there were only 3 ? and this is the press car! The rumours go that no MKIIs ran in anger but mine certainly did and was running when I bought it in 2001. Fitted with 1990s Ford running gear. parts are readily available ( 1. 8 injected Zetec twin cam engine and Sierra 5 speed box)
The car has had three owners…. the factory. for demonstrator use (and who went into liquidation I believe). a gentleman from Chesterfield who bought it in 1998 (even then it was in need of recommissioning) and then myself.
After 13 years of ownership. too many projects and not enough storage space I think it is time I sold it to someone who has the time to get this running again.
When I bought the car it started . ran and drove through the gears fine. the main issue was minor body issues ( scratches . stone chips etc) with the obvious problem being a complete lack of a front bumper. I managed to find and use the original tooling to have two new front bumpers made and these come with the car ( in natural fibreglass gell coat…need painting).  
Having stood as long as it has ( always in covered storage) I would expect all the brakes and the clutch to need freeing off…. the car rolls onto a trailer but I have not tried to start the car.
I have copies of the original first registration V5. the second owners V5 and one in my own name so the history can be proven.
If you have a few weekends to spare I am sure this could be brought to a very nice summer sports car that would not only handle like an old Elan but be more comfortable and best of all "unique" on the UK roads . As to value.  good MK1s rarely come up for sale and when they do they make 5 figure sums; a rare MK II should easily make similar values when refreshed.  
As mentioned before there is a strong Evante club that would undoubtedly welcome a new member . especially as the MK II is so rare.
