VW Beetle. everyone knows and loves a Beetle.

Interior & Equipment

Fully refurbished original seats with VW embroidered into the seat backs. new carpets set. very good head lining. original steering wheel. pop out rear side windows. The interior is lovely throughout.

Exterior

The Chinchilla grey paintwork is excellent all round with no corrosion. blistering or issues what so ever. The panel fit is excellent; she sits perfectly and looks amazing.

Wheels. Tyres & Brakes

Currently sitting on immaculate Empi Alloys. plus she comes with the original steel wheels and chrome hub caps also fitted with excellent tyres.

Engine & Transmission

The original 1500 engine has been fully rebuilt and all ancillaries changed needless to say she starts on the button. sound fabulous. and drives like a dream.

Summary

This VW 1500 Delux has amazing provenance from new. Sold originally by a local VW dealer in Mansfield we have the original service book stamped by the dealer complete with its free service voucher.

It was kept by original owner Mr Wordsworth from new for 31 years. we have every mot and most tax discs and service history during his ownership. In 2000 upon bereavement it was bought by another local man who knew the car and just had to have it. This man was a VW/Audi specialist who took it upon himself to carry out a lot of work keeping the car as original as he could with some subtle period upgrades.

It was stripped and then painted in its original colour Chinchilla Grey with 4 new quality wings added. The interior was treated to a re-upholster of the seats with VW emblem stitched in and a wicker parcel shelf fitted. Some additional gauges were added and a stereo hidden in the Glovebox. During restoration it is all too common to replace the engine with a rebuilt 1600 unit but not in this case. The original 1500 was stripped and new parts used including refurbished barrels. new pistons. new carb. new distributor. new alternator. etc. A new braking system was installed then the complete underside was waxoiled. Needless to say all done properly and to this day the engine is running superb.

The 1500 Delux models with all original mechanics are becoming super rare and this 3 owner immaculate example wont last long. We hope the new owner will treasure it as much as the last 3. It has had a brand new MOT and wants for nothing. The original steel wheels are included in the sale should you wish to change the Empi Alloys currently fitted. These are also in immaculate condition with 1st quality tyres. Literally thousands have been spent on this Bug. she now wants for nothing and is ready to enjoy and show.

The history file is amazing. full of service and parts receipts dating back to 1969. almost every MOT and tax disc dating back to the first in 1972 plus the original handbook book.
