Current customer rating: (247 votes ) based onNot in concours shape. but beyond a restoration candidate; just a lovely vintage car to own and drive.
The car comes with original Manual. original Workshop Manual. and five toolboxes full of un-used but vintage spare parts. most from Moss Motors.
I am not a vintage car expert; my mechanic tells me the numbers match and there is no rust. except the visible pocks on grille. This is a car to COME AND SEE!
HISTORY OF THE TF 1500: The TF Midget was launched in October 1953. was a facelifted TD. fitted with the TD Mark II engine. headlights faired into the fenders. a sloping radiator grille concealing a separate radiator. and a new pressurized cooling system along with a simulated external radiator cap. This XPAG engine's compression ratio had been increased to 8. 1:1 and extra-large valves with stronger valve springs and larger carburettors increased output to 57. 5 bhp at 5. 00 rpm.
In mid-1954 the engine capacity was increased by 17 per cent to 1466 cc and designated XPEG. The bore was increased to 72 mm (2. 8 in) and compression raised to 8. 3:1 giving 63 bhp (47 kW) at 5. 00 rpm and a 17 per cent increase in torque. The car was now designated TF1500. and externally distinguished by a cream background enamel nameplate on both sides of the bonnet. placed just to the rear of the forward bonnet-release buttons.
Production ended at chassis number TF10100 on 4 April 1955 after 9. 02 TFs had been manufactured. including two prototypes and 3. 00 TF1500s. The TF was superseded by the MGA.
On May-07-14 at 14:40:02 PDT. seller added the following information:Additions:We've learned a few things about this car with people more experienced than I coming look. The car is called almond green. was an original MG-TF color. The body is very good. There is no actual rust but some minor oxidation underneath. Numbers match. I do not have original bill of sale. I have a xerox of the CT title (transferred form my father to me 2002) with a reference number back to original Delaware title. as my father was a legal resident of Delaware even though he bought the car while in the service in California. I have found a small ding rear fender. and a little bit of paint chipping along running board edge. New exhaust 2004. new starter and solenoid. 4 new tires 2004 (which means 25 mils ago). new battery 2014. Consensus is car is very nice driving shape. Not showroom quality. but certainly better than a rebuild car; a lovely driving car. Right in between. Come see.
