1927 Rolls Royce 20 hp Hooper Limousine.
Ordered new by a Scottish Laird we last sold this car to a prominet Moscow collection some 8 years ago. Since then it has seen no use at all & comes back to us with hte same mileage as when it left. We have given the car a thorough re-commissioning service & now have the car running beautifully.
This is an owner driver car with no glass division. but is fitted with 7 seats allowing for large parties to be catered to. A pair of occasional seats fold out of the bulkhead as do two picnic tables.
In recent years the car has had fresh Tan leather upholstery fitted to the front seats & pale grey West of England cloth installed in the rear complemented by champagne carpets. The woodwork is all in good order & the requisite instruments are in their appointed placed on the dash board.
The Aluminium coachwork is a fine example by Hoopers who produced quite a number of these. The roof has the usual weight saving rexine insert. All six windows wind down making for a light & breezy feel when motoring on warmer days. augmented by the twin windscreen top openings.
Mechanically the car is very sound. The car has had a top end overhaul not many miles ago & as a result runs very sweetly in near silence. Oil pressure is very good & the car runs cool at all times. The engine bay is tidy. A large klaxon is fitted to the bulkhead. Wheel covers are fitted all round including to the spare. A pyrex style brass fire extinguisher is fitted under the passenger door although we would not wish to vouch for its serviceability.
This is a delightful little car with a very period & vintage feel to it. It is well suited to weddings given its 7 seat configuration. but equally at home parked in a flowery field on picnics we have fond memories of such excursions when we had the car 8 years ago.
