Park Ward produced a few saloons of this design. and the reason for their popularity can be easily understood. being handsome and well-proportioned. but not in any way ostentatious. This example is in good order. drives well. and has the advantage of a recent new cylinder head. and a full re-wire. The brown leather in the rear is original and lovely. and the front seats have been re-upholstered to a good standard. and will eventually mature down and match well. Offered serviced and MoT tested. We are currently in the process of re-instating the original registration number. AYU 885. which will hopefully be completed soon.

Chassis No. GRC59. Reg No. AYU 885 (see above). £32. 00.

Snippets: History of Wimpole St: Peter Lewis Daniel (1871/1950) took delivery of GRC59 at his London address of 1a Upper Wimpole Street where he had a private medical practice. During his career he was Senior Surgeon at Charing Cross Hospital & consulting surgeon at Willesden & the Metropolitan Hospitals as well. His son Peter (1910/1998) also became a doctor specialising in the nervous system. 1a Upper Wimpole Street was designed by William Henry White in 1910 and was remodelled in 2012 to provide a family home. Elizabeth Barrett was kept a prisoner at 50 Wimpole Street by her father before she managed to escape & elope with the poet Robert Browing in 1846; in George Bernard Shaw's “Pygmalion” Professor Henry Higgins lived at Nr 27a. The street takes its name from Wimpole Hall. the ancestral home of the Harley family – developers of the Cavendish estates around 1724. Upper Wimpole Street was not itself developed until 1778 after the closure of Marylebone Gardens.
