1972 BL Mini for sale

Current customer rating: current rating for this car(2.25) based on 267 votes

Very very reluctantly I am offering for sale my beloved 1972 1293 cc BL Mini. provided it goes to the right home for the right money.

It started off as 1000cc automatic in sandglow. originally taken off the road about 4 years ago for restoration. This became a full restoration. the bodywork and paint being done locally to a brilliant standard. Since then everything has been removed from the car and refurbished/restored/replaced according to it's condition. No expense has been spared.

This is the link for the resoration as documented on The Mini Forum: http://www. theminiforum. co. uk/forums/topic/253812-it-started-as-a-76-1000-auto/

Both front wings. the front panel. doors. a panels. sills. door steps. lower 3/4 panels and some guttering were replaced. The car was then sanded back and repainted in John Deere green insde and out. The car was fully waxoyled inside the panels and covering the floor.

Both subframes were removed and refurbished with relatively minor rust. They were both rebuilt with new parts; poly bushes. radius arms. suspension donuts. braided brake lines. brakes (back plates & mini fins at the rear. S discs on the front) with Hi-Lo's and adjustable spax shocks.

The engine is a Bill Richards 1293 cc manual based on a 1992 block with HIF44 carb. facet fuel pump (mounted on the rear subframe with bash guard). nbsp;and fuel king filter.

The exhaust is a single box side exit Play Mini in stainless steel with an LCB manifold (all with yellow colour coordinated rubber mounts).

The headlights have been changed for Lucas P700's with Lucas 488 (flat glass) indicators and retains the Mk 3 lights at the rear.

There are yellow (colour coordinated) Samco hoses throughout and new Minisport yellow HT leads to accompany the Aldon coil and electronic distributor.

The exterior has been kept subtle with 6" x 10" silver Mamba's with Yokohama 165/70/10 A008 tyres. body coloured group 5 arches. stainless bumpers with overiders and corner bars and retro race mirrors. The car also has period raised letter number plates front and rear.

The interior has been finished in a new green carpet set with custom seat covers and savage style switches. retaining the central speedo.

The not so good bits: The car was pressed into service earlier than I would have hoped due to change in job and the need for an occasional second car. As such I wasn't able to trouble shoot it before using it so a couple of things have shown up. Firstly. the speedo reads out (this can probably be sorted with a different cable). There is nowhere to connect the water temperature sender (the head would have to be drilled or. as I haven't gotten around to doing. a feed from one of the hoses). The carb has been rebuilt but the car could probably benefit from setting up on a rolling road.

If anything else comes to mind I will update the listing otherwise if you have any questions please contact me. I have the car advertised elsewhere so I reserve the right to end the listing early (if I can).  I will consider sensible offers only. This car is my pride and joy and if it wasn't for my change in circumstances. meaning I now have to commute. nbsp;I would not be selling.

The car is in Walmer near Deal in Kent should you wish to see it before bidding but please no tyre kickers.
