Toyota Land Cruiser, Recovery Truck "ONE OFF" 25k from new, ONE OWNER

Hi your looking at an auction for what we believe to be a "one off" Vehicle which is being advertised on behalf of friend without internet access and ebay account.

The following description is that of the owners-

One owner from New. This Toyota Land Cruiser wad purchased new in 1983 from McCabes. a Toyota Main Dealer in Ardee. Dublin. I particularly wanted a New Land Cruiser and at the time Toyota had stopped importing them into the UK in 1976. They were however still produced in right hand drive for other countries. Eire was the nearest.

This is the 4. 2 litre petrol engine version which at 120 BHP is a lot more powerful than the 95 BHP Diesel. As a recovery vehicle it was never going to do long journeys and half of its mileage (25. 15 at the point of writing) has been done with a broken down vehicle in tow.

After collecting it from Dublin. it arrived on the overnight ferry into Liverpool. I drove it directly to Basingstoke where the pick up body was shortened in order that the spectacle lift could mount as far forward as possible in order to lessen the leverage when carrying another vehicle. This also made it more manoeuvrable in restricted areas.

Originally green it was changed to Black being my company's corporate colour at the time. nbsp;it was then repainted by hand to the white in 1993 with the three blue stripes as the then new corporate colour scheme.

The interior is original. which does include the passenger seat. that was an extra cost as it was an option. It is very clean with only wear on the drivers seat base which is splitting and needs recovering.

The spare wheel is the original and has never been used. The sun visors have the original plastic covers still on them. of course they should have been removed but have saved dirty hands touching them for many years. it now adds to this vehicles specialness.

It is special. it goes anywhere. everything works and it commands respect. so you look after it as any serious examination will show. It has no rust. no oils leaks. no play in anything. its literally as good as it was when it was new. shame about the seat.

Originally it had three lap belts which were primitive. we fitted inertia reel belts for the driver and passenger. leaving only the centre seat with a lap belt as it was rarely used.

Every year it has been properly serviced. its has a current MOT and is taxed.

It will be returned to its original A registration as the number currently displayed is being retained. but could be purchased by separate arrangement if required.

Finally it gets noticed where ever it goes as you simply don't see these Land Cruisers. especially not recovery vehicles and particularly not in this condition which makes me believe that the next part of its life will be more a machine to be looked at and admired all be it if required it could perform any task that was asked of it. I will be genuinely sorry to see it go. but my loss will definitely be someone's gain.
