This 1976 Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser is about an upgrade in V8 power, upgraded in 4x4 components, and an overall upgrade in attitude. So it still has the FJ look you love, but now with more of the capability that you crave.
We love the Land Cruisers because they are rugged-built machines with terrific off-road style. And this one really takes the distinctiveness up a notch. After all, it still has that unmistakable FJ look, but there's also the same kind of extra ability you'd find on a custom Jeep CJ. It's finished in a bold yellow with plenty of off-road attitude. In fact, it even comes with an extra set of fender flares just because on a capable machine those are built to break away during the most fun. This yellow makes for a nice backdrop for all the black elements, like the full custom six-point roll cage, soft side doors, tubular steps, swing-away rear tire mount, and the beefy front bull bar with spotlights and a winch mount. There are even more great rugged features, like diamond plate rear panels and a Hi-lift jack. So yes, people will see this is one of the meanest FJs around even before you show them what's under the hood (more on that in a moment.)
The interior is all about getting down to off-road business. That's why this has been updated with proper off-road buckets in front and single-piece mold rear bench. Plus, everyone has upgraded harnesses, which are a big benefit on uneven terrain. The floor is finished in liner paint so any traces of a day out on the trail can basically be erased with a garden hose. When you slip behind the grippy Grant GT sports steering wheel you can instantly tell they built this properly. That's why the dash is now a custom panel that's dominated by AutoMeter gauges, including handy readouts for the oil pressure and tach. The bikini top is there to keep the sunshine off your shoulders whenever you want. But it's also easy to remove this and the side doors for a full open-air experience.
Under the hood is a serious upgrade in power. It's a Chevy 350 cubic-inch crate V8 that has been enhanced with Comp Cams Xtreme Energy camshaft, HEI ignition, Edelbrock Performer intake, and topped with an Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor w/electric choke. The headers add more power while also giving a nice tune to the side-exit dual exhaust. This gives you the added power and torque you want in an off-road machine. Plus, there are more great features like a four-speed manual with a low-speed granny first for easy rock crawling, and the rear end is geared low to give you plenty of power from a standstill. And adding to this true ability is the two-speed transfer 4x4 case, Aussie Locker rear diff, four-inch suspension lift, Rancho adjustable shocks, and BF Goodrich Mud Terrain T/As. And because you don't start every day on the trails, it's nice to have good all-around driving features like power steering and power brakes w/discs up front.
This is the classic FJ with extra power and ruggedness. It's distinctive, capable, and absolutely cool. So if you want to lead the charge up the hill, call today!
