What you're seeing here is a cutting-edge performance car that merely looks like a 1973 Dodge Challenger. With 512 cubic inches. it is certainly competitive with. say. the new Shelby GT500 and Camaro ZL1. yet retains the classic good looks that make Mopar fans swoon.

Pro-touring will never go out of style. and pro-built cars like this show off just how far you can go with vintage sheet metal. If you like the shape and the Go Mango color. but were kind of lukewarm about wobbly handling and anemic brakes. this car is the cure. The first thing they did was smooth and finish the body so it looks
like a show car. then they laid down a few coats of that vivid vintage color. complete with blacked-out hood treatment. Gaps are show-car straight. the panels line up exactly. and the depth of the shine is so impressive you might be hesitant to drive it hard. The pro-touring look is enhanced by the big hood scoop and ducktail spoiler borrowed from a Challenger T/A. Fresh chrome. lots of blacked-out trim. and exceptional attention to detail make this car stand out even before you turn the key.

The interior got a full makeover as well. enhancing the driving environment while maintaining the spirit of the original design. Deep bucket seats replace the slippery chairs that were standard in 1973. and they've been surrounded by restored door panels and center console. Those cheesy faux wood inserts are long gone. replaced by brushed aluminum for a high-tech look. Carbon-faced Auto Meter gauges fill the original instrument panel. easily visible through the leather-wrapped wheel. The entertainment system has received an upgrade. too. with an Alpine AM/FM/CD stereo system and a bunch of powerful speakers scattered throughout the car. including subwoofers and amps in the fully upholstered trunk.

But the real story is under the skin. where a High Output Big Block has taken up residence. backed by a built 727 Torque Flite transmission and a Sure Grip rear end. But pro-touring is more than just raw horsepower. it needs to be balanced. which means this Challenger also carves corners like a sports car. Engine upgrades include an Edelbrock intake and Holley double-pumper. MSD ignition system. and a set of long-tube headers inspired by the original cast manifolds. The suspension is augmented with oversized sway bars. lowering springs and performance shocks. so the ride is controlled but not punishing. making this a car you can drive cross-country. Four-wheel discs were supplied by Wilwood. and you'll note that the bottom of the car is as beautifully finished as the top. thanks to a show-quality rotisserie restoration. That lowered stance looks best with low-profile rubber. and the awesome Foose 3-piece alloys with blacked-out centers work perfectly with the color combination and wear 245/45/18s up front and massive 305/35/18 steamrollers out back. This car is truly a one of a kind car and will turn heads anywhere you drive it!
