1947 Ford Woody Delivery Railway Express

Rare Museum Quality Restoration

The owner spared no cost building this One-Of-A-Kind Vehicle. 3 years to build by retired master fabricator. Woodwork created by a professionally wood craftman. Owner invested over $100k. An engineered recreation for this historical rare vehicle.

This vehicle was originally in service at Railway Express in Marion. NC. Originally this truck was used to carry bulk mail from the railroad to local post office. It was retired and never left the state since it arrived from manufacture. The truck overall size is 7' high X 18' long X 6. 5' wide. The body was removed from frame restored and top was chopped 12" from the original height. A complete off frame heavy-duty chassis was build with late model Camaro front end clip and C10 rear axle. Running drivetrain is a Chevy 350 V8 with 280 horsepower crate engine attached to a 700R4 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission. The custom exhaust system has mellow turbo mufflers provides that nostalgia sound from the 350 engine. Installed is 5-gallon air tank for the suspension air shocks for a smooth ride and to blow the air horns. Fully power convenience with power steering. power windows and power seats and A/C. Runs on nostalgia Steel wheels with hubcaps and trim rings. Tires 235/70/15 front & 285/70/15 rear BF Goodrich Silver town radials.

All wood panels are double-planked Brazilian Wood used throughout this vehicle including the headliner. Front floorboard is also finished in wood. Since build it's been driven 8. 04 miles as currently on odometer. A custom built trailer is included at no additional cost. Overall trailer length is 12'3" from hitch to back. Floor bed is 48 1/2" wide and 108" long. It can safely transport a golf cart or motorcycle and was built with the same attention to detail as the truck itself. A metal center runner ramp was built into the trailer to make hauling motorcycles with ease.

It's an awesome street driver and pleasure for a night cruise or any special show event. Has been on several exhibits and ready for any cross country tour.

Comments and questions to the seller:

from Steve , dated 08 september 2017
Rare...yes indeed as Railway Express never had anything close to resembling this. There is nothing restored about this rig. It's a totally customized version of an Express Truck.
