Current customer rating: (230 votes ) based onI'm selling my gorgeous TF-1500. It is registered to my name. has historic tags and is fully insured. This car has been in my collection for the last 4 years; I'm the third owner. This collectible car is in very good to excellent condition. It has low original miles (37. 00 - estimated). This car wins prizes at local car shows. It has a 59 year history and originality. This is a great solid car with its original body panels. instruments. accessories and tools.
With the larger 1. 00 cc engine. this MG TF-1500 model is the most desirable and rare of the "T" series of the 50's. This is the last of the “coach built” body shells. 3. 00 TF-1500 cars were built and sold worldwide; they were built between November '54 and May '55.
The car starts right up. runs. and drives great! Engine. transmission. clutch. suspension. brakes work great! Neither the engine nor the transmission have been rebuilt (all original). The black paint is in very nice shape and shines nicely. This convertible has full gauges. a tachometer and a manual choke. It can be used as an occasional driver. for special events. or as an excellent candidate for a concours restoration. The wood in the body and floors is in excellent condition. There is no rust in the body or undercarriage. A stainless steel exhaust system was installed in 1972 and still looks new. All numbers match.
Engine number XPEG / 1447
Car number HDA46 / 7622

This MG is totally complete with original type canvas cloth tan tonneau cover. top. and side curtains (new still in the box). and the desirable chrome wire wheels. including the rear mounted spare tire. It was first restored to original condition in 1972 with a frame off restoration (the car had about 34. 00 miles then). All wood was replaced and it's still like new today. The car was partially restored again in 1989 (2. 00 miles later). at that time the odometer was set to zero (now the odometer reads 1. 17 miles. ) The chrome has been replaced or replated. All rubber pieces are in great condition. The car has been garaged since 1972.
The interior trim is in great shape. The seats. however. are showing the effect of time since the original restoration. still good. but not concours. Dash and steering wheel could be refinished for concours. Car took 3rd place at the Gold Coast British Car Club Show in 2009 and 3rd place at the MGs on the Rocks 33rd Annual Car Show in 2012.
Car comes complete with the often missing original hand crank.
The radiator cap. which is a façade. can easily be purchased and replaced for a concours show. Upon purchasing the car. the original owner installed a beautiful Screaming Eagle hood ornament on the radiator cap; it gives this stunning car an added touch of classic beauty (it has only cost a fraction of a point at shows but has brought many to pass other TFs and look at mine).
All other parts. i. e. generator. starter. radiator. switches. cloth wiring harness. etc. . are original. It also has several 1955 dealer options. including tripod headlamps. badge bar. wing mirrors. aluminum valve cover and aluminum tappet cover. This car may continue to hold its value and actually appreciate if maintained in reasonable good operating and cosmetic condition.
This MG has been truly loved and I wish it to go to a good home.
