1975 MGB Roadster in British Racing Green for sale
Current customer rating: (450 votes ) based onI'm selling part of the family. Rosie the MGB and It's a very reluctant sale. I've a little one on the way so sadly the time for sunny picnic trips the two of us is over.

I looked at about 15 MGB's before I bought this one. The main reason for this making the grade isn't particularly hard to understand if you've been to look at any MGB's in this price range. most are rotten or have good paint hiding a multitude of sins. This has no mechanical or rot issues. The previous owner ran a garage and had the following work done:
4 new tyres2 new rear springsOil/Water GaugeNew fuel tankNew starter motorElectric fuel pumpElectronic IgnitionNew door locksK&N FiltersFull stainless steel exhaust which will last forever and sounds greatNew Fuel Sender UnitElectric FanNew Fuse BoxReconditioned engine - rebored. big end and main bearing shellsNew castle rails and floor. all waxoyled now so nothing to worry about
I've owned the car for 2 great years and it will be a shame to see her go. Despite being 37 year old I've never broken down once and it's never failed to start. I replaced the water pump as a precautionary measure last year as the old one had a slight weep. This car will run all day in the height of summer sitting in traffic and never had any issues with overheating. Not that you want to do that of course. MG's are built to be cursing along country roads with the roof down.
It's started on a weekly basis and driven when ever it's nice and dry. It's kept in a heated garage with an expensive car cover. which will be included in the sale if I get the price I want.
Just taxed it this week for 6 months. I've heard a rumour that the government may be considering the cut off point for free road tax at the budget. This missed it my 1 year. so if they change that the car potentially could be more valuable as tax exempt ones generally sell for a little higher. Never really understood that as I would rather have a better example and pay for tax but never mind.
MOT'd till some time in the summer (I can't find the certificate at the minute but I'll go to the garage on monday and get it printed). Sailed through last time with no advisories. The inspector commented on how nice the car is which is always nice. I took this opportunity to have a good poke around underneath when it was under the ramps and I was over the moon with the condition.
Overdrive works correctly in 3rd and 4th and looking at the unit it only looks a few years old so I'm guessing that has been replaced at some point. It's activated by a switch on top of the gear knob.
Lovely cream leather sports chairs with head rests and they are in excellent condition. These are about £950 but totally make the interior. The arm rest and gaiter is matching and is set off nicely with the wood veneer. The interior is probably what lets the car down a little bit. the centre console is missing a radio and some of the switches need tidying up but it's nothing major and doesn't distract from the driving experience at all.
Chrome rostyle wheels which are rare
Bad BitsThere is a small tear in the roof about 3 inches long. Never really bothered me as the car is only used on sunny days so the roof is down. Centre console needs switches fitting correctly (they are just loose at the minute but work fine)Bodywork and paint is very good in my opinion. there are 2 spots where someone has had a diy attempt at painting scratches. Probably about 1 or 2 inches long but they were't bad enough to show up on the camera.
This is a genuine sale because of the impending baby but honestly I'm not that fussed if it does't sell. Any inspection is welcome and whilst I've no doubt if you bought it on eBay without seeing it you'd be a very happy chappy. I would always recommend coming to have a look in person. If possible. I would recommend to try and view a few other MGB's as well before coming to see this one. The car is not concours obviously and it hasn't been restored. what it is is a very honest and original car in very good condition for the year which will serve you well for many years to come.
I've set the reserve at a realistic price.
Feel free to ask any questions and I'll post the responses because no doubt i've forgotten loads.
Thanks for looking
