Needs brakeline work (leak? air?) and a new spare tire

Up for auction is a 1983 Honda Civic Wagon. Turns heads everywhere it goes.

Made 3 videos for you (a walk-around tour while running. a drive and running at a stop) but eBay is frustratingly not accepting the imbedded YouTube files for this listing. (I use imbedded YouTube videos routinely in my listings. using an code-imbed converter tool that always works. but for some reason its just not taking). So. to see those videos. which are not for public viewing. only for those with the links. just type in the typical youtube url address: www dot youtube dot com backslash watch?v= and add the following 11 character codes at the end: HgPFsEJyTLY. Nrq1luQje0k. and YstupXfIS6A. respectively. Sorry about the inconvenience.

I will start by saying that I inherited this cute little car. and personally know the previous owner before that. The last owner made me promise to keep driving it local. not long distance. The longest I ever drove it was 40 minutes straight. I drive it daily and weekly take her from town to our farm. a 20 minute ride. I fantasized about restoring her. but just ain't got the energy for that.

I've had her since 2007. It has always been kept impeccably (i. e. . regular oil changes. just like I have). but it has not been garage kept. so there is rust (see photos). Tried to mention all the little quirks and wonky idiosyncrasies below. but there may be some little tiny things I forget about. like how the fuses sometimes need replacing so the inside lights come on. I got extra fuses in the glovebox. When I got the clutch cable replaced last year. they told me it needs the bearings lubed.

A cool hippy beater. even though its from the 80's. not the 60's.   Wherever I drive it. gawks and looks abound. "What year is THAT CAR!?" Has cool Ohm sticker and messy remnants of other stickers on back windshield.
got a flat the other day and its currently riding on the spare. I hobbled to the nearest gas station. so the old tire is really munched up. see photocomes with this milk crate full of tools and spare belts and fluids and things from the previous owner. see photo. I didn't use that stuff. and never took inventory of what all is in that crate
the power brake fluid line has had leaks in the past. and repair history shows my brake repairs. but I drive it like this now: it really needs attention to the brake line. there must be either another leak cause the brakes go down close to the floor. although I can stop quickly. but it might freak you out at firstwhile you'll see we repaired the exhaust. the guys didn't replace the pipe in front of the muffler. and a little rusty patch makes it stink a bit like exhaust when the breeze is right when you drive with the drivers window down. I would patch this or replace that section of pipe because it can't be good for your health
in general. due to the above. you can only have the drivers window open if one of the rear windows open. or some exhaust smells waft in from time to time I guess from the updraft or something
three of the windows go up and down. but passengers window carriage rusted. and although I have opened the door panels and fixed at least two of the windows. the front passengers window needs a new metal carriage-shelf (whatever that is called) for the glass. so I've taped it shut cause otherwise it falls into the door. the drivers window opens up and down perfectly. but the two rear windows roll down fine. just you have to partially raise the glass with your hands and hold it while you crank it shut to keep the glass up. Maybe you can fix this.
parking brake broke within two weeks after I got it so I've always parked in 1st gear on flat ground. no parts avail to fix it. I've used it all these years without an emergency brake. front windshield fluid reservoir got a hole last year so no front wiper fluid (again. no part avail. must take it out. find and plug hole or seam. or use some other jug)outer cover for gas tank cap broke off. still have it in the glovebox. would need to be welded maybe with a new hinge
radio doesn't work. or should I say. works crackly and sporadically
runs like an old lady when its cold or damp (coughs and sputters). in which case it tends to burn a little oil or run smoky
runs like a charm in nice. dry weather above 40 degrees. I love this car!

Repair History. some mine. some previous owner:

new tires (1 in 2011. another in 2012. then the two other tires replaced late '07. Definitely needs new tires all the way around now if you ask me
muffler & exhaust 2011
last tune up summer 2011regular oil changes every 36K miles. next one due in March 2013
ignition wires. belts. batterywater pump '07 & '03timing belt '03rear brake shoes. brake hoses. front brake pads. master cylinder replaced 6/2011new left front headlamp 2012
new rear and front wiper blades 2012Clutch cable replaced in 2013
It needs the spare replaced. it really needs new tires by now. and that brake line should be inspected. as well as the issue mentioned about the bearings being lubed. But otherwise. like I said. it runs. I use it. it is just a bit coughy and temperamental in really cold weather. It occasionally backfires. probably needs a tune-up. Maybe garage keeping it would help it run better from the start up in the winter. Once its warmed up. it acts fine and is a joy to ride. Spring. fall and summer it runs like a champ. I took out the old ripped up seat covers. and the holey steering wheel grip. It's being now sold as is. Period.

Thanks for looking and good luck to all bidders!
