Ace Wilson Royal Pontiac. based in Royal Oak Michigan. carried the performance banner for Pontiac and changed the face of muscle car history with his elite Performance Packages which have become extremely desirable and collectable over the years.
The Pontiacs with these Performance Packages have changed hands in the collector car market for 100's of thousands each!
This is an amazing trubute to the legendary 66 GTO Royal Bobcat Hurst Equipped Tri Power cars.
The restoration began on a rock solid 65. 00 mile original convertible.
No corners were cut to replicate the Royal Bobcat options. its really something; fresh Ram Air package (very rare and very expensive). Hurst Pro -matic Shifter. Hurst Air Shocks. 1966 YR Code 389 Tri Power Engine with engine modifications to the actual Ace Royal dealership package (again very desirable and very valuable). It also has the 1966 Tri Power intake and carburator set-up that has been meticulously restored to its original specifications and condition. wow!
It had a high performance valve job with thinner head gaskets to raise the compression ratio. polylock adjusters on the rocker arms set at 0 lash for higher RPM Horsepower.
The original 66 Tri Power engine components with the Ram Air system alone is 10's of thousands of dollars. and are very rare components.
The Tri power carbs are original 66 units that have been jetted to 4 speed manual status with original part number tags attached.

HISTORY OF THE ROYAL BOBCAT GTO

The original muscle car. the Royal Bobcat GTO was the baby of a burgeoning Detroit subculture. one not sanctioned by the big automakers of the early 1960s.
In a post-World War II America hungry for chrome. flash and speed. Royal Pontiac in Royal Oak. Michigan. modified and sold its souped-up versions of GTOs to customers. and in the process created a demand for custom street racers in America.
Founded by Ace Wilson. the Royal name became synonymous with speed.
Royal mechanics developed the idea of sealing the Tri Powers three air cleaners in a "pan" that sandwiched a large foam gasket against the underside of an opened up hood scoop. known as the FULL FORCE RAM AIR ENGINE OPTION.

Royal Bobcat Options Offered: engine kit including thinner head gaskets to raise compression. Polylock rocker arm adjusters. high rev lifters. cam shaft upgrade. rejetting kit for carb. advance curve kit for distributor. Ram Air cold intake package. headers. Hurst Air Lift shocks.
