1962 Lincoln Continental Convertible.

 VIN #2Y86H409335.

Good example of a 1962 convertible in Sultana White with bright red interior.   Black top.   GREAT COLOR COMBINATION.   This car is a fun driver-quality car that can be driven to car shows or for fun spring and summer weekends.

Mechanically. the car is in good condition.   Idles great and has an interior that is equally in great shape.   GREAT PARADE CAR.   Electric fans added to prevent overheating when cruising in parades or in slow traffic.   Most owners of ‘62 Continentals are aware of the potential for overheating on these cars and the fans. mounted discreetly in front of the radiator (with a toggle switch under the dashboard) prevent the overheating issue.

Carpet and seats are in great shape.   Center armrests in both the front and rear seats are in great shape.   Locks work fine. Wood is in generally very good condition.   Paint is an older repaint of the original color and is bubbling in spots.   Lap belts were added in the front and rear compartments.   The clock even works. The car is fitted with an aftermarket CD player.    This car did not come with air conditioning but the heater does engage and function.   Glass is in great shape. as are the chrome frames around the side windows.

The dashboard. gauges. controls. glove box & lettering. and faux wood steering wheel are all in very good cosmetic condition.

THE BIG DEAL:  The top is slow (as it was when the car was brand new) and FUNCTIONING.  Power vacuum door locks work fine. as do the rear door open warning and emergency brake indicator lights on the dashboard.  Gas gauge. voltage indicator. high beam indicator. window locks. blower. horn. power antenna and manual day/night rear view mirror are functioning.   Radial whitewall tires are in good shape.  Hubcaps are in great shape as well.

This car was in the “Lincolns for the Millennium” car parade in Busch Stadium during the 2000 combined meet of The Lincoln and Continental Owners Club. Lincoln Zephyr Owners Club and Lincoln Owners Club. and was shown at that combined meet as well.  Car colors. both interior and exterior. match the original VIN specifications as when the car was manufactured.

OEM Owners Manual and shop manuals are Included. as are framed copies of the original Lincoln shop posters outlining the top lowering and raising cycles.   Also the car comes with a custom fitted car cover from California Car Cover.

This is a no warranty “as is-where is” private party sale.   Buyer is responsible for any pick up or delivery of vehicle.

Mechanical:

Top works well. and is fully functional.

There is some surface rust. as is common with most vehicles of this age.

Exterior:

Paint is in good usable condition but not show quality.   Paint is fading though glossy and there is a crack on the rear driver's fender.

The rear passenger door has an area of paint that is bubbling.

The car has a large ding on the rear passenger door.

The underside driver's side of the rear bumper has some surface rust.

There is slight pitting and rust on sides of the rear grille.

The windshield wiper hose needs to be connected.   (There is a newer reservoir bag with correct logo on the car).

There is some rust on the bottom edge of the rear top frame where it seats with the trunk deck. that gasket shows some wear also.

Doors need to be adjusted - when the windows are fully in the “up” position both windows rub.

When the top is up the front window where the top seats with the window frame makes a hissing sound. (the rubber gasket probably needs to be adjusted or replaced).

The Lincoln Star in the center of the rear grille is included. but needs to be reapplied to the rear grille.

The rear window is in good shape but has a few creases.

Interior:

The driver's window is not functioning.

The two manual smoking windows are not functional.

The electric front seat will not go forward/back.

The rear windows work. but the automatic relays that should lower the windows automatically when the door is opened are not functional.

The speedometer is not functional.

The left multi gauge on the dashboard to the left has some flaking on the frame.

Hood release works but is very hard to engage.

There is slight pitting on the metal horn handle on the steering wheel. as well as the interior front window frame and visor stays in the middle of the upper front window frame.
