Mercedes 300SL - Excellent Condition with Service History and Low Mileage

My wife thinks I'm mad to sell this car because she loves it so much. but I fancy trying something different.

With the weather we've been having recently. these Mercedes SLs make perfect sense. You have a soft top for rare sunny days and a fully trimmed hard top and excellent heater for the rest of the time. With the hard top on. they're incredibly refined and comfortable. With the soft top. you can enjoy fresh air fun when it's warm enough.

This era of SLs come from a time when Mercedes really made cars to last and quality was the only real consideration. The doors close with a reassuring “thunk” and the whole car feels immensely solid and reassuring to drive. They have a well-deserved reputation for reliability and are very straightforward and cheap classics to run. I can see exactly why these cars are so popular. In these harder times. they represent a really good opportunity to experience luxury. relaxed classiness and fun without breaking the bank. They're perfectly useable on a day-to-day basis or as a weekend car and keep their value very well.

This lovely car is in excellent condition with superb red paintwork and chrome and matching hardtop. also in first class condition. It comes with lots of history including the original stamped service booklet. handbook and delivery options card. The history file also includes many of its previous MOT certificates.

The car has been very well looked after by me in the two years I've owned it and has had a recent service. seat re-trim. new battery. radiator. brake callipers and viscous fan. I've kept the car under cover in my warm and dry garage at all times. except when being driven. It really has been pampered.

I have just today taken the car for its annual test. so it has more than 12 months MOT (to 23 April 2014) with no advisories.

This car was driven recently by someone who knows SLs really well and she commented that this was once of the nicest SL drives she had experienced.

My car is the SL model to have:

·         1987 build date (anyone who is looking for a quality Mercedes SL will know that the model made from 1986 onwards is the one everyone wants. with improved body protection. nicer alloy wheels. discreet front spoiler. better water pump and other improvements).

·         300SL model – the lighter 6 cylinder engine with better fuel economy and handling than the 8 cylinder models. There's very little difference in performance between the various engines.

·         Low mileage for these long-lasting cars of 93. 00.

·         A very popular colour combination – red with black interior.

The only faults I'm aware of are very small – the cruise control (which is an optional extra not present on most SLs anyway) and the clock don't work. I understand that these are common faults with SLs. They didn't work when I bought the car and I haven't had them fixed because they've never affected my enjoyment of the car. I just want to be 100% straightforward with bidders.

This is a quality car that dealers would sell for £15. 00 or more.  My reserve is set way below that. so grab yourself a genuine bargain.
