Technical specifications, photos and description:
The aluminum body was hand crafted by the artist Bill Leahy. who re-bodied all Cobras for Carroll Shelby's competition cars. Please see the quote and a link to an interview with Mr. Leahy that was done in 1989.
L&C: Were you out of the limousine business for a while?
Leahy: Yes. I built a lot of Ferraris. My son and I re-bodied 20 or 25 Cobras. We did all the competition cars for Shelby. They brought in pictures of cars and said. “We want this shape of car. ”

The engine is a 710hp dry sump built by Jack Roush racing.
The rest of the car was constructed by Al and Ken Baurle. who also created Jay Leno's first Cobra.
The last time this car was raced and running was in 1984.
This Cobra is sold in “As is”. non running condition. which is sold with a “Bill of sale” only. This vehicle never had a title because it was always a race car.
The first owner that had this car commissioned was also the owner of the original CSX3279 non race Cobra car so he decided to have the same vin # stamped on the plate (I was told that this car has won many races). Below is a comment that I found on the internet regarding this car.
"This is a fairly well known car which ran out of Central Division SCCA in the late 70′s and early 80′s. I believe is started as a B Production car and them moved to GT1 in the early 80s when BP went away. I talked to Ken Brenneman the original owner in 2003. At that point he was running an MGA twin cam in vintage racing. Ken owned (as I recall) both 427 and 289 cobra street cars. I do not know if the original 289 was raced but at the time BP cars has to be built from an original car. The original cobra at that time was getting too valuable so Ken had the “clone built”. He used the VIN number from his original car (he still owned at that time) so that if challenge on the authenticity of the car he could produce a title. By the time this car moved to GT1 this was not important as tube frames were allowed. If the car was running in GT1 it probably has a small block in it. Ken was just a character who loved racing. loud and fast cars. and wanted to drive a Cobra. The car was reasonably fast but certainly not a front runner by the 80′s.
There was nothing sinister about the original intent of the car. Ken didn't build it with the intent of deceiving people regarding the value – he just wanted to race a cobra style car and not wad up an original. Ken passed way in 2004 and I had not seen or heard anything of the car since. "
This car is complete. non running but is intact. vehicle is in my garage in St. Louis Missouri.
