AMC/Nash Rambler Cross Country Surf Station Wagon Rat Rod Project Crosscountry for sale
Current customer rating: (685 votes ) based onYou are bidding on a 1959 AMC/Nash Rambler Cross Country Station Wagon.
This is one of the coolest body styles in a wagon. I just spent a bunch of time getting this up and ready to hit the road and once I got it all fired up it has very low compression and will need the engine overhauled or swapped. I decided to put this up for sale and see if anyone had the desire to either restore or turn this in to a rat rod. There is a TON of room in the engine compartment I am sure this would be a easy conversion for a larger engine.
The Good:
Very straight and clean body lines with very little rust. Floor panels have already been cut out and new metal welded in before I bought it. 90% complete most of the chrome and emblems are still intact. I just rebuilt the starter. brand new master cylinder. new brake lines in the front. new front wheel cylinders. new motor mounts (not installed). 4 new shocks. Transmission and clutch work fine.
The Bad
The engine is about toast. it will start up and run but it smokes like craze and doesn't have a lot of power. One cylinder had 0 compression. The interior is a 5 on a scale of 1 to 10. The seats are intact but a lot of cushioning is gone and the material is dirty and worn. the door panels should be recovered as most of the material is falling off. The headliner is falling down near the rear of the vehicle and needs to be repaired. Will need new carpet throughout. we had to remove the household carpet that was in it when we bought it. There are some small rust spots (see pictures) in the rear towers
There may be some things I am missing so please be sure to send me any questions you have I am happy to answer them. I can assist with transportation and can hold on to the car for a couple of weeks after we receive payment if needed.
