***** Morris Minor Traveller ***** for sale
Current customer rating: (257 votes ) based onI originally purchased this vehicle in July 2005 with the intention of returning the car to it's original condition. It was bought from a South of England businessman who purchased the car from one of his customers. He informed me the car had only ever been registered to one family and that it had been the wifes vehicle. When the husband died she decided to sell the car. Because. at the time. I was heavily involved in my own business. I was unable to start working on the car until I retired at the beginning of 2012. Whilst in my possession the car has been stored inside.
WORK DONE
When I eventually managed to make a start on the restoration. the following work was done :-
Most of the underside was in good condition with very few places where the dreaded rot had taken hold. These places were cut out and repaired by a qualified welder. The whole of the underside was then taken back to the bare metal and given 1 undercoat and 2 coats of a 'zinc' paint. It was then given 2 applications of underseal. Stone chip was applied under the front and rear wings.
The wood frame was completely replaced with all new wood and given multiple applications of 'Danish Oil'.
A new fuel tank. sender. fuel pump and fuel pipe were all replaced with new. Front brake cylinders. master cylinder and all brake pipes were also renewed.
The engine was removed and completely rebuilt by a professional garage. All pistons. rings and bearings were replaced along with other ancillaries. The engine was replaced in the car with a new clutch.
All interior panelling was recovered with new vinyl and the rear headlining and flooring were covered in moquette. A used set of red seats and door cards were obtained to replace the original blue interior. The front passenger seat has had a small repair (see photo). The interior was completed with a new carpet set.
The whole car has had a very recent 2 pack respray by a professional spray shop. All 5 tyres have been replaced with new radials and a tow bar and electrics are fitted. Many other bits and pieces have been replaced - most of which I have forgotten.
MOT is valid until October 2014 and the tax (exempt) expires in September 2014. I cannot guarantee the mileage.
Tha car is not in concourse condition but is tidy and drives well - everything works. I would recommend and welcome a viewing before any bid but please don't waste my time if you only want to kick the tyres.
My reason for buying the car was to use it as my daily car - hence all the work. time and money spent on the vehicle. However. for my sins. I have aquired another Traveller which I am in the process of restoring. so this one has to go.
Please note that no guarantee is given or implied and the car will be sold as seen. I can be contacted via Ebay or on 07714671815. The auction will go to the end date. Good luck and Thank-you.
A small 4x3 trailer is available to go with this car at extra cost
