1981 Porsche 911 3.3 Turbo for sale
Current customer rating: (274 votes ) based onThis is a lovely and rare 930 model Porsche 911 from 1981. Finished in tasteful Moss Green Metallic paintwork. it is in superb original condition and has covered just 60. 00 miles from new with a nice history to show.
The interior is sumptuously finished in green and cream leather. and includes the very rare (and comfortable!) Dr Fuhrman orthopaedic seats. There is also a sunroof and air-conditioning. The Porsche has a well documented history and work of note includes a new clutch at 54. 00 miles and an engine strip at 44. 00 miles to replace head studs. It is in superb mechanical order and is a joy to drive. Good Porsche 911 Turbos like this are very sought after and an appreciating asset.
In the early '70s. Porsche had designs on racing a turbocharged version of the 911. in support of which they planned a homologation special along the lines of the Carrera 2. 7RS. A subsequent change in the rules negated the need for a precise number of street legal vehicles. but the company continued with the project anyway - the Porsche 911 Turbo (930) was born. The 930 was based around the Carrera 3. 0RS. the engine from which was modified courtesy of turbo technology developed for the 917/30 CAN-AM cars. Initially power output was 260bhp. but from 1978 it was increased to 300bhp by raising the engine capacity to 3. 3-litres. To accommodate the extra performance over the 3. 0RS. the 930 sported revised suspension. larger brakes and a robust. four-speed manual gearbox.
In order to help deliver the power to the road. a 'whale tail' rear spoiler was fitted and a wider rear wheel / tyre package was squeezed under specially flared arches. From 1985 there was the option of an SE ('Flatnose') package for the Coupe. It featured a slanted snout. pop-up headlamps and even wider rear arches covering yet wider wheels. Moreover the engine output was raised to 330bhp which. together with the inherently more aerodynamic shape. pushed the terminal speed beyond the 170mph mark. A while later the SE option was extended to the Targa and Cabriolet versions.
Our car drives superbly. needs nothing . is taxed and MOT'd and ready for its next owner. we supplied this car its previous owner so know it well. This is one of the nicest 3. 3 litre. 4 Speed. Turbos we have seen. the colours are seventies superb. the options we have never seen before and the mileage and history are second to none. If you are looking for an early low mileage Turbo. and the market is only moving one way at the moment. this is the one!
