AND LOADED WITH GREAT FACTORY OPTIONS THAT INCLUDE 4-SPEED. POWER BRAKES & POWER STEERING! GREAT AWARD WINNING INVESTMENT! SPECIFICATIONS Year 1967 Make Pontiac Model GTO Ram Air Hardtop VIN 242177G128181 Mileage 117. 35 Engine 400ci Ram Air Cylinders V8 Transmission 4-Speed Title Clear Color Regimental Red Interior Color Black DESCRIPTION Revered as one of the most popular and sought after GTO's ever produced. the styling characteristics of the 1967 model came together in outstanding success for Pontiac! Subtle exterior changes at the nose and rear end. along with all new engine options. allowed new buyers onto showrooms something to get very excited about! One of the rarest of these engine choices was a factory high output engine made possible with a functional Ram Air option. Only 751 lucky buyers ever made this checkmark on the order form. and undoubtedly represent the rarest of Pontiac GTO's produced in this final year. first generation! It included all the same goodies on the HO engine options like the carburetor & intake. 670 heads (or 997 heads on later engines) distributor. exhaust manifolds. 10. 75:1 compression. but added a functional fresh air intake hoop scoop. longer duration 744 camshaft. polished valves. and taller valve springs! This pushed the 360 horsepower performance out to 5. 00 rpms and came with a standard rear racing axle ratio of 4. 33 with Safe-T-Track! This factory. out-of-the-showroom mega performer was hardly practical for everyday use. but was able to dominate drag strips without hesitation producing low 13-second ¼-mile times at speeds in excess of 100mph! This was without changing the tires. exhaust. or even removing the emission equipment! That's a very fast muscle car no matter how you look at the numbers. or compare to other offerings available at that same time!

The St. Louis Car Museum is extremely excited to offer this factory ordered 1967 Pontiac GTO Ram Air Hardtop finished in code correct Regimental Red with Black Vinyl Cordova Top and Black bucket seat interior. Original factory equipment options include 400ci V8 Ram Air engine producing 360 horsepower. close-ratio 4-speed manual transmission. 4. 33 Safe-T-Track rear axle. power steering. power brakes. center console. Rally I wheels. pushbutton AM radio. and rear center seatbelt! The story of this special GTO is very unique. especially when it came into ownership of its second owner in 1970. It was purchased by Bea & Lou DeMonte. located in Staten Island. who decided to use this GTO as their primary mode of transportation for the next 25 years! For this reason. the original rear end ratio was immediately swapped for a more street suitable 3. 23 gear set. It accumulated 112. 00 miles before they finally sold it in 1995 to John Turks. also of Staten Island. NY. His plans to restore the car never came to fruition. and the keys & title were hands to Joe Portagallo in 2001 for the job to commence.

Pro 1 Restorations (Now Paul's Auto Restorations of NY) was selected to fully document the restoration of this fine. rare Ram Air example. and it was done so carefully and photographed throughout the entire process. In real frame-off fashion. the car was carefully disassembled and treated to a proper. high dollar completion. Any and all metal that feel fate to New York weather was expertly removed and replaced with all fresh metal. Fully stripped to bare surface. the body received hours of block sanding. then primer sealed. and finally 6 coats of single-stage PPG urethane paint in the correct color code R- Regimental Red! The finish was wet-sanded & polished to a mirror shine! A new vinyl roof was installed. bumpers re-chromed. and new trim installed throughout. Inside. all new Black Morrokide upholstery (code 223) from Performance Years was fitted along with fresh padded carpeting. The original gauges were retained only with the addition of a re-chromed bezel. The brake system was fully rebuilt. All Chassis and suspension components were powder-coated for years of protection. New upgraded Eaton springs set the ride height perfectly. refinished Rally I wheels with reline tires installed. and a correct Gardner OEM Ram Air exhaust system gave it the proper sound! A few features were added during the restoration that include remote driver mirror. power radio antenna. hood tachometer. and power trunk release located in the glove box.

The original. numbers matching XS-code engine retains the original distributer (internally updated to breakerless HEI ignition). correct late generation No. 997 heads. correct intake. exhaust manifolds. and Ram Air assembly! Ace Crankshaft of Deer Park. NY rebuilt the engine with a standard . 030 overbore. stock crank was turned . 010/. 010 and polished. It retains the factory rods. but new forged TRW dished pistons. and Nunzi camshaft meeting correct Ram Air specs. The heads were treated to a three-angle valve job with upgraded Manley stainless steel valves. new guides. springs. retainers. pushrods. and comp cams roller rockers. A correct Ram Air carburetor rebuilt by Performance years rests at the top! It runs ideally at premium pump gas today without issue! The Muncie transmission was also rebuilt by Ace Crankshaft. while the original Hurst shifter linkage was rebuilt by Pete Serio. The rear end was then rebuilt with a 3. 55 Safe-T-Track axle ratio. and although incorrect. proved to tame the car for continued street & highway use. Final completion of the restoration was in 2003. complete with GM hoses. dated spark plug wires. T3 headlamps. Delco accessories. and more to help it become a multiple show winner!

Many of these cars were quite obviously sold to go to the race tracks and dominate. For this reason. we owe a debt of gratitude to Bea DeMonte for preserving this one for as long as she did. With its restoration. it represents one of only 12 known examples listed in the 1967 GTO Ram Air Registry!
