SELLER REMARKS

By the early 1950s. the domestic auto industry was once again hitting on all eight cylinders. and this sleek 1952 Ford tudor sedan is an ideal combination of '50s style and flathead fun. It's also quite affordable for a car that can show up at any show and be welcomed with open arms and still cruise cross-country.

The black paint gives the conservative Ford a very serious look. but even up close it stays in character with excellent fit and finish. The all-new styling that hit in 1949 evolved a bit each year. with the '52 models looking quite up-to-date. particularly compared with their cross-town rivals at Chevrolet. Raven Black paint was applied after the bodywork was thoroughly massaged. although the condition of the details on this car suggest that it didn't need a lot of help in that regard. The tudor body style is a nice upgrade over the previous years' frumpy "4-door with the rear doors welded shut" look. a look emphasized by the long stainless spears along the flanks. The chrome trim is in great condition. including the grille. which still has some "bullet nose" styling. You'll also note that it wears accessory window guards that were popular at the time and those badges you see on the nose are evidence of this car's show-winning past.

The handsome interior features gray striped Bedford cord upholstery that's quite correct. even with the striking accent colors. The wide bench seats remain supremely comfortable for long distance cruising and the door panels are nicely finished using a combination of materials. patterns. and colors to give it an upscale feel. The dash is simple and sleek. with a pod ahead of the driver housing a big speedometer and smaller auxiliary gauges around its perimeter. and two symmetrical sets of knobs on either side for the secondary controls. A simple steering wheel with stylish horn ring remains in very good condition. and the car sports and accessory AM radio and a cool clock mounted in the center of the upper panel. Aftermarket floor mats protect the original-style carpets and the fire extinguisher is mandatory with most clubs that do judging. so it's nice to see it still included. The trunk is quite large and well-shaped. finished with a reproduction rubber mat and carrying a full-sized spare tire.

The 239 cubic inch flathead V8 remains one of history's all-time great powerplants and gives this handsome Ford a wonderful disposition out on the road. The bright paint is actually pretty close to the original and there's a big oil bath air cleaner up top wearing a reproduction decal. In fact. this one might actually be too nice. with shiny acorn nuts on the heads and chrome tubes for the radiator hoses. but you can't argue that it doesn't look awesome. It also starts easily with its original 6-volt electrical system. and with a 3-speed manual transmission. it's a ton of fun to scoot through traffic. The undercarriage was treated to a light dusting of undercoating for protection and now wears a new Flowmaster dual exhaust system that gives it a very racy cackle. Original painted wheels with hubcaps and trim rings are surrounded by period-correct Firestone wide whites.

A neat old car that's a lot of fun and surprisingly practical at the same time. And thanks to those badges on the nose. you can rest assured that the restoration work was top quality. Call today!
