Submitted for your consideration is this beautiful 1957 Cadillac Series 62 Sedan Deville being sold by the estate of the owner who was a former President of the local chapter of the Cadillac LaSalle club.

HISTORY AS DESCRIBED BY THE DECEASED OWNER: "This 1957 Cadillac Series 62 4 door hardtop was originally sold by a Cadillac Dealer in Auburn. New York. It is rumored to be a gift from Elvis Presley to the first owners. The car was used sparingly through the late 50's & 60's having accumulated only 42. 00 miles when it was placed in storage for about 30 years at the time it was acquired by the second owner. With this second owner's acquisition. a thorough restoration was completed and the entire mechanics of the car were rebuilt. Every part was re-painted in the original colors. but to a better quality than the original. Obviously Cadillac never painted "ghost flames" at the factory. As the interior only showed little wear. it was thoroughly cleaned up. Only the carpet. dash pad and package shelf were replaced. The rest of the vehicle is as installed by Cadillac in 1957. When the restoration was completed. the odometer showed 42. 00 miles. At the time I acquired the car its mileage was about 42. 00 (miles). In early 2007 (the odometer) turned 50. 00---just 1000 miles for each year of its life. The car runs like it did when new (apart from current intermittent fuel issue). (This Cadillac) has the standard 300 horsepower. 365 cubic inch Cadillac V8 completely rebuilt. Although not equipped with air conditioning (deemed not necessary in upper New York State). it did have power windows. steering. brakes and seats. It also has the autronic eye which automatically dimmed the headlights when an oncoming car was detected (that's the device on top of dash at left near windshield). It still works just fine but with today's traffic and all the street lights and strip mall lights. it really only works well way out in the country. This car was at the TDOT (Tennessee Department of Transportation) 50th anniversary celebration of the creation of our Interstate Highway System at the Bi-Centennial Mall in June 2006. and later in the fall at the Celebration of Tennessee History at the same Mall".

OBJECTIVE INFORMATION:

CHROME/STAINLESS:

All Chrome and brightwork on this car are in all original exceptionally good condition showing no discernable signs of damage/rust/pitting etc.   It all polishes to a bright luster needing nothing.

All emblems are intact and undamaged and present well.

No evidence of damage. hammer marks or curb scrape on any of the 4 wheelcovers.

EXTERIOR BODY & SHEET METAL:

All sheet metal is wonderfully rust-free and exhibits good panel alignment overall.

Paint Quality is superior showing little to no defect from original. The White on roof appears to have a mild pearlescent quality to it that does not detract from the stock-original appearance.

The Owner had subtle "Ghost Flames" painted into the front end and partially into the front doors. This was professionally done and gives this a very mild resto-mod quality to it.  The ghost-flames can likely be color-sanded thru for removal for a more stock appearance. As Ghost-flames go. this was perhaps one of the best I have seen in some time.

As noted above. at some point the right lower-most corner of the decklid made contact with the right quarter panel near the rear body panel just above the bumper causing a paint chip. It is not readily apparent but it is there. This is the only area that rises to "damage" that is observed. Decklid can probably be adjusted slightly to resolve this contact issue.

INTERIOR:

New Dash Pad is evident. done well. and is a very close color match to original interior colors.

All cloth on door panels & seats is in amazing shape for it's age needing little or no attention short of a thorough cleaning. A few minor stains are observed. but it is my opinion that these can be professionally cleaned to like-new condition to preserve as all original.

Driver's seatback exhibits a separation at a seam and can probably be re-sewn as new.

Headliner is in great all original shape needing nothing. Likewise. the visors are in great shape as well.

Rear View Mirror on windshield is of good quality and silvering is intact.

Instrument Panel Gauges are clear. functional and in good condition. All the Dash Chrome is in nearly perfect condition.

Steering Wheel is stock-original in good shape.

**NOTE: Owner installed a discreetly located Cassette/DVD player in the glovebox with a stainless steel trim plate for professional-looking fit/finish. This was installed neatly and can be removed without any damage to the glovebox. It is also not visible to anyone looking at the interior unless the glovebox door is open. The owner also added a green neon "glove-box" light to compliment the "green theme". There is an amplifier & chrome fire extinguisher mounted professionally in the trunk. Those too can be removed without affecting the originality for authenticity purposes if desired.

MECHANICAL:

Engine Compartment is in clean all stock-appearing condition except for the newer battery & added accessory cooling fan (these do not detract from appearance)

The engine runs strong and quiet; The car rides out very nicely (no signs of intermittent fuel stutter mentioned by the owner during my test drive).

Engine oil is a dark brown--------not black and does not smell "burned" on the dipstick. As near as I can tell this appears to be a nicely rebuilt engine consistent with owner's comments above.

Trans shifts smoothly and correctly for this vintage.

Oil is observed on bottom of oil pan and near rear bell housing lending to the idea it may need a rear main seal (typical maintenance item for this vintage).

All power windows & Power Seat work as they should.

Tires all around are like new. clean. undamaged etc.

Having judged several AACA sanctioned carshow events. this Cadillac---even as equipped with ghost flames and select few maintenance items would have scored highly for it's good overall condition.

For what its worth. the proceed from this sale is being donated to the Cadillac LaSalle Museum at the owner's behest.

Should you have any questions. please do not hesitate to contact me directly: 615-979-3058.

I have additional photos if required. A test-drive is of course recommended. but not necessary for this example in my opinoin.

Vehicle is safely roadworthy etc. ------however for the fuel intermittent issue. I'd suggest it be trailered for any long distance.

I note there is another '57 on here that rivals this example--------except for the custom paint on ours.

Vehicle is destined for auction if no sale on eBay so bid now and save the commission!

Pre-Auction Estimate is in excess of $18000. 00.

On Jan-21-14 at 14:58:05 PST. seller added the following information:

***SUPPLEMENT NOTE:

Relative to mechanical condition. I failed to mention that at some point in this car's life the exhaust was routed UNDER the rear bumper ends instead of thru the exaust ports. The owner added black metal "plates" to cover the exhaust ports for a more custom look. As near as I can tell the exhaust ports and bumper ends are intact beneath the cover plates.

Also. while the owner took measures to carefully record his knowledge about this '57 in his ownership. we have not found anything that confirms whether or not Elvis purchased this car or not. A member of our local CLC (Cadillac LaSalle Club) seemed to think that if that Cadillac Dealer in NY is still there it is conceivable that you may be able to get independent confirmation from them OR from the Cadillac division of General Motors directly relative to the purchase at the time. Of course a title search may reveal that also. but we have not explored that at the time of this writing.

The '57 Owner's Manual & '57 Shop manual depicted in the trunk are included with this sale.

I have listed everything the estate knows currently about this car for your consideration.  It's certainly possible even for this nice example that other items may exist that we are unaware of. Certainly feel free to ask questions or coordinate a test-drive and we'll be happy to accommodate you in the spirit of an informed purchase.

We are willing to assist any long-distance buyers to the extent possible.

I do not need any help selling this vehicle.
