1968 Shelby GT 500 Convertible Custom

Description

Fully restored and performance modified 1968 Ford Mustang Convertible. This Mustang began life as a 289 ci-powered convertible and has since been taken to 11 with over $160 K invested in a professional. no-expense-spared restoration and performance modifications.

During the restoration. the body was stripped and professionally repainted in mile-deep black with excellent panel fit and a virtually flawless finish. All of the brightwork has been refinished or replaced. and Shelby-style rear decklid. spoiler and tail lamps were installed for racier look.

The factory-original 289 has been replaced by a professionally built and supercharged 363 small block V 8 backed by a high-performance C 4 transmission driving a 9" Positraction rear end. The engine has been upgraded with a Paxton Supercharger and Edelbrock hi-rise aluminum intake. forged Probe pistons. Scat crank & rods. Ron Davis aluminum radiator. aluminum AFR heads and a ground-pounding custom jet-coated exhaust. All-in-all. the supercharged small block pumps out an incredible. dyno-proven 652 hp/574 lb-ft! To handle all the power. the suspension was completely overhauled with full TCP coilover front conversion and 4-bar rear end. upgraded TCP sub-frame connectors. TCP rear mini-tubs and 31 spline axles. Power rack & pinion steering keeps everything straight and Wilwood brakes provide ample stopping power behind custom 3-piece Forgeline wheels.

Likewise. the interior has been totally redone. including Recaro racing seats and 5-point Schroth racing harnesses. custom roll bar. Sparco sport steering wheel. Maximum Performance Stewart-Warner instrumentation and Hurst locking gear selector. An Escort 9500 radar detector has been installed and the sound system has also been upgraded with premium Focal speakers and Rockford Fosgate amplification.
