Aston Martin V8 Classic for sale
Current customer rating: (439 votes ) based onIt was not until September 1967 that the DBS V8 was finally announced. production commencing the following April. With its platform chassis and independent suspension - coil spring/wishbone front. de Dion tube rear with Watt linkage and twin radius arms - the fine handling DBS was a perfect home for Tadek Marek's all-alloy V8. Boasting four overhead camshafts and Bosch electronic fuel injection. the 5. 40cc V8 produced an impressive 320bhp at 5. 00rpm and 360lb. ft; the resultant 160mph plus performance was nothing short of staggering in 1970. After David Brown sold Aston Martin in February 1972 the DBS V8 was replaced by the Series 2 model. now simply called the Aston Martin V8.
Gone were the four headlamps and slatted grille. in their place a black mesh grille flanked by single headlamps; mechanical changes were limited to electronic ignition and standard air conditioning. August 1973 saw the Series 3 arrive with quadruple Weber carburettors. larger bonnet bulge. improved seats and central locking; power for this model rose to 304bhp.
Finished in green with a parchment leather interior this fine V8 is in very good condition having been maintained throughout. The car has had a limited number of previous owners. it was owned from 1988 to 2007 by one owner. During this time the car was maintained at main dealer HWM. There are invoices and history to back this up covering maintenance and restoration work including sill replacement.
The penultimate owner had various work carried out on the Aston costing over £18. 00 which included a cylinder head rebuild to Vantage specification. Vantage stainless steel exhaust system. Harvey Bailey handling kit for both front and rear suspension plus general servicing. Since in my ownership in the last year a total of £4. 00 has been spent including refreshing the interior. engine tuning work which included new exhaust manifolds and general servicing.
A total of 62. 00 miles has been covered. The engine and drivetrain are in top condition. and since the refurbishment the interior is now showing showing a nice patina. The paintwork is in very good/ near excellent condition showing the quality of its older respray ( Pugsley and Lewis had a hand in this). The body is again in very good condition with all the usual rot areas having been restored or in very good condition.
The car is supplied with a long MOT (Feb 2014). associated bills and invoices as well as service history and the original handbook. this example represents a rare opportunity to acquire an excellent. low-mileage example of this classic Aston Martin.
